I was wondering if anyone would happen to have any advice on what kind of discs are used to copy, or store photographs. From the research I have done it seems DVD+R discs are the way to go? Are there other CD options to store photographs as well?? Advice and thoughts much appreciated.

I recommend external Hard Drives. Far more capacity and not to mention many laptops are starting to not include disc drives.

    Easier to file too.

I would say any good quality DVD will work, you can use the export function of Lightroom to make a nice presentable DVD if you dont want just folders of them. You can also try online photo albums with password protection for clients. They can then order prints from there or download the original files.

Great! I will have to give the export function on Lightroom a try being thats what i use to edit in. Advice well taken.. Thanks!

Okay. I havent yet started to seriously look into an external hard drive for my desktop, but from the sounds of it, it wouldnt be a bad idea! I guess the main question i had, which should have been stated on the main post, was what discs would be recommended to copy and save client's photographs. My appologies..

How do you go about resizing photographs before you put them on the disc.. Or do you just leave them in the original size format and hand them to the customer?

I am not a photographer my any means and just getting into it. I have played with Lightroom a little year or so ago and just got LR4 now. I was just outputting original size's, but in export menu there is an image size output option. Thinking back, I dont know if this is what I used to make nicer looking DVDs or if i exported as a webpage and made an autorun file in the DVD root to open the html page. I have not messed around with Lightroom in depth for over a year now.

I had no clue there was already a Lightroom 4! I have Lightroom 3.. I'll mess around with file formats tonight and hope i could put a good disc of photos together. Thanks for the info!
