All around people are doing their part to give 26 simple things to people they do not know. This is to honor the 26 lives lost in the Newtown tragedy and bring a little happiness into someones life this holiday season. I hope more people join in on this!
I think it's because 26 people died in the shooting that people are doing 26 nice things for their fellow man.

Ok, I get the 26 people, what does the gift card have anything to do with that? Someone give that to you, you give that to someone? You donate that to a charity? What?
It's meant for everyone to try and do 1 thing for someone to honor those 26 lives lost. So if you want to buy someone a coffee or leave a little something just to bring joy to somebody's day by leaving it on their car or whatever. Here's another example.
