    Which do you prefer?

Difference on light or dark car?

    Overall gloss?

    Which is easier to apply?

    Which on last longer?

Hard Body give you a better gloss and easier to apply. Opti Guard is permanent and HB is around 18-24 months

I'm still deciding on which one I like better.

HB has more gloss, more of the shimmery look. Opti-Coat looks to me more like there is something on the paint rather than the paint is super shiny like HB.

I like that before HB I can just use Shine and Seal.

HB is more forgiving in the application. If you mess up on the Opti-Coat the mess up will also last a long time.

I love HB on our dark gray car, it makes the paint look like it is a much more expensive paint job. But I am thinking of doing opti-coat on my white car as the difference in shine/gloss won't be as noticeable

Opti-Coat last longer but HB holds up really well too.

Can you top Hard Body with a wax?

yes you can, however once you apply it and see the insane gloss you'll probably change your mind about waxing. IMO you don't need a layer of wax over HB. i have 4 coats of HB on my car and the gloss is ridiculous. i maintain it with the wolfs QD. BTW my car is Obsidian. went out today and saw some bird**** on the front fender, got my spray bottle with distilled water spritzed 4/5 times and the bird **** slid right off. the crap was hard so it had to be there since yesterday. after it slid off i inspected the area and no marks were left from bird ****.

Can you apply HB on OC?

Don't waist your time and money putting HB on top of OC. It's a permanent coating so there's just no point. Same with waxing either of these coatings. I prefer HB because of its amazing looks, ease of use, and I don't like the idea of a permanent coating. However, I would use OC over HB on a white daily driver that probably won't be maintained correctly...

So, what do you prefer as far as the car keeping clean/ease to clean, and beading?

I love HB. I don't like the idea of Permanent coatings either. I used Shine and Seal then have 3 coats of HB. I maintain with ONR and Prima Hydroseal/Hydro combo.
Shine and protection are unbelieveable. I walked out yesterday and saw a spot of bird crap, for some reason I touched it and it slid off.

I thought BW was geat but HB is something special. The best part is the looks.

Wolfs is supposed to be coming out with their version of a NR wash

They are both very good, If you top HB with something else it tends to lessen its ability to release dirt really well. As has been said before in this thread, it looks good enough it doesn't need topped.

that's what I'm trying. My wife would kill me if I undid the way her dark gray car looks but my white one I didn't see that much of a difference between the HB and the OC so I'm trying OC on it because I don't plan to spend as much time keeping it looking 'perfect'.

I will tell you this about HB. I had edger fall over onto my fender the other day, left a very small dent and a nice 1" scratch............. I freaked out, went and grabbed a MF towel. ZERO damage from the leaf blower other then the dent, the scratch wiped off. No joke............ I was very impressed. I was on of the people who was skeptical about the key text that was posted up, this stuff is very durable.

The other thing is dust........ I have noticed that it really repels dust, I was washing my car every 4-5 days prior to HB, now its like every 10 days, and I have not changed driving habits or where I parked my car.

I thought about this too, I was told that by using the Nano QD every so often it helps repair spots that degrade

Sorry for my ignorance, I have been off for a while; can you later HB and just keep applying it like once a year?

Also, does anyone have pictures showing HB level of gloss vs another sealant?

Does HB do anything to keep hairline scratches at bay?

Great point, dust used to drive me crazy on the cars and with HB it is so much better. Not sure how OC does for that, but I'll let you know in about a week. I've currently got a car about half done in OC and half in HB

Maybe it is just my imagination but the Nano QD seems to amp up the depth for me.

I think if you leave it alone for a year you probably want to at least hit it with shine and seal to clean it up as contaminants would likely degrade it in some areas more than others. I hit mine with the Nano QD about every 2 weeks and then 3-6 months I hit it again with HB (started with BW about a year ago on it)

As for pictures of the difference, I just about went crazy today going back and forth from the OC side of my car to the HB side and at best can say the HB is a slightly sharper shine and if it makes any sense seems to 'shimmer' more. But I doubt I could capture any difference in a picture and it is really hard to say since both sides of the car are in different light with different reflections on them.

It is probably less the HB keeping the scratches away and more me learning how to wash right and getting a foam gun that is keeping it scratch free.

As mentioned before if you have a white car or even silver then OC is pretty good. On darker colors the HB looks really great and is easy to use. Get the shine and seal and HB and the QD and you are set for a lot of cars and a long time.

As was also mentioned above OC is better for a car that isn't going to be maintained otherwise go with the HB

I also put it on my new wheels 2 months ago, nothing sticks to it. Ive even sprayed zeps 3:1 AG CWC, and CG citrus wheel gel, and its still going strong and beading like crazy. Very durable, not to mention the heat the wheels take from the hub and brakes.

I was thinking about using OC on my Black Mk6 gti however after reading some great feedback about the Wolf HB I think I'm going to go down the HB route, can anyone tell me me if they have had difficulty applying HB and which method is yeilds better results by hand or DA?

Applying HB with a DA was much easier than by hand. Use a soft red or gold pad. I have a dedicated 5.5" red pad that I use for HB. I found HB harder to apply than Body Wrap by hand. It was hard to work it in and also keep it a thin even layer. Always had more excess to remove with HB than Body Wrap. Once I tried it with the DA I knew that it was the best way. Nice thin even layer with practically no excess to buff off. I really think that the action of the DA works the HB into the paint unlike what your hand is capable of. After using HB this way I started applying the Wolf's Glass Guard the same way with a DA and 3" white pad. It was crappy pad that came with some stuff I bought from Harbor Freight. It was too soft to polish with, but really works the sealant into the glass.

Can someone also chime in about the Body Wrap and not just the HB, please. :p Every time I see a review or comparison, it's always HB and I never actually get the info I'm looking for.
