Yes, it should look like their 3" DA from the start. The speed control is different as well besides the grip.

My next DA will be a Rupes though. I don't want another GG as I have 3 already

"After rigorous testing, I am proud to introduce the 3rd generation Griot's Garage random orbital. Our new orbital offers the same great power as the previous version, but we redesigned the exterior to achieve a new level of comfort and ease of use. We kept the adjustable handle but added a rubberized grip to it. We added molded hand and finger grips to the housing, along with a domed, rubberized palm grip. We moved the speed control dial and power switch to more convenient locations."

Definitely sticking with the 2nd gen especially now there cheaper. I have the 3 GG as well as the 6 an I'm not really fan of the rubber top on the 3, I can't imagine this is any different.

I would hope and assume they addressed the reliability issues of the previous machine. You would think that would have been the main reason.

I can't see them not addressing it but I can see them not acknowledging the issue so who knows

I can't see turning away from the reliability issue. At some point it's got to cut into profits when you have to replace so many units that go bad

I for one don't know about the new power and speed controls. I dislike the switch on the G110v2, and now it's in the same spot. Maybe Amazon will run them for dirt cheap this Black Friday and I'll pick a spare 2nd gen.

And why didn't they mention the amp of the motor? Am I under the assumption that it'll be the same?

If the quality of the bearing hasn't been improved I have no interest in this machine.

I believe the motor is exactly the same.

I believe the G110v2 switch is on the back/butt of the unit...this is showing it to be on the top like the PCXP.

when they gona learn to put speed control somewhere where your hands are during polishing to you dont have to take machine off paint to change speed safely

It looks like they moved it to the top, but still in the rear. Better then before.

is that what fails on them? i am on my second until ...the first stopped spinning and would shoot sparks out from the air vents for the motor

I like the power of the GG, but never liked where they put the power switch. Now its on top where it should be. But until they stop breaking on people, I'll keep my 7424XP cause it hasn't skipped a beat in the ~4 years I've been using it.

Looks pretty nifty. I just got the old or current model and love it but the power switch is in the worst possible spot. Wish this new one came out before i purchased the one i have!

The specs for the motor may be the same but I got to believe they want to improve the reliability. They just would not say so blatantly in their marketing description. The lifetime guarantee must be a cost drainer.

I am going to see how people like the Rupes.

Is it worth waiting for the newer model?
