Today I had the honor of working on a very good client's 2012 Centennial Edition ZR1. It is fairly new, but unfortunately the dealer touched it. There was some minor swirling and some holograms on the finish. The holograms were most evident on the carbon fiber roof and the rear spoiler. Swirling and holograms became much more visible: M205 on a black finishing pad on a Flex 3401 was able to get all of the imperfections out, and finished down very nicely: (Didn't realize this shot was so out of focus...unfortunately didn't get another shot) Finished Product: Thanks for checking it out! The holograms and swirls on the roof are probably not the fault of the dealer, at least not the majority of them. The company that manufactures them for GM "buffs" them out before shipping them to GM to be installed. Thankfully the clear on them is softer than the rest of the car and they *usually* correct easily. Might be time to pick up a safe wheel cleaner though. Car looks good.
Thanks guys! I had a great time working on it. As for the info on the carbon fiber...I didn't know that, so that makes sense. There was some slight swirling in the paint as well, and this car was never washed before...so that was either from the dealer, or the owner wiping it down. The owner is very, very meticulous with all of his cars...he has an 02 vette that was only hand washed a couple of times. They're stored in a climate controlled garage. As for the APC yes it was diluted. 4:1 seems to work very well as a presoak...all of the bugs/grime came off without any excess agitation. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
