I was going to try out one of these kits on my black 2010 subaru hatchback since there were so many good reviews. My car is 2 1/2 years old and gets regular washing and waxing, but never polished or clay bared. Sorry i am new to detailing; this is my first car with even cleaning. Can anyone help me choose between the fine and regular pad? Also would you recommend the kit with the glide or the one with Adam's polish? Here's what I am talking about. http://www.detailersdomain.com/NanoSkin-Autoscrub-6-inch-Pad-Kit_p_697.html http://www.detailersdomain.com/NanoSkin-Autoscrub-6-inch-Pad-Kit-with-Glide_p_706.html http://www.detailersdomain.com/NanoSkin-Autoscrub-Fine-Pad-6-inch-Pad-Kit-with-Glide-_p_710.html Thanks a lot
I would do the nanoskin towel and it's faster. I have both fine and med 6" pads and I haven't used them on my last 4 cars lol. Buy the nanoskin glide, dilute it 7:1 and go to work Break it buy scrubbing your windows first then use it on the paint. Here's one that I did with the 6" pad http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/show-shine/34509-2012-obsidian-black-pearl-5dr-sti.htm
I purchased the first selection some time back (with no regrets), but would go for the Kwazar kits for the reusable sprayer if I did it again. The selection of the fine or regular pad is a matter preference.
I've been wanting to try one of these for a while. Phil uses them a lot, basically from what it looks like he uses them on all of his writeups so hopefully he will post up on it. I would say either the 4" or 6" one would be what i would purchase.
I have the Fine SM Arnold Surface Prep (gray microfiber towel on backside) Towel, use it with DoDo Juice Born Slippy Claybar Lube; broke this towel in on all the glass of the vehicle, and it did wonderfully. Since it is a square towel folded into 4th's, it is sometimes hard to tell for sure if you removed all the embedded stuff, so you need to be sure to wipe off the panel and feel it with your hand to make sure its all gone. I only have to look for missed spots in creases, tight places, etc., where the Claybar can be formed to get into much easier and probably more effectively the first time.. Have not created "extra marring" with this combo, and for speediness, and ease of use (just have to rinse it out with clean water), pretty hard to beat once you can justify the price. Dan F
Dan, I listen to the surface when going over it for a few times. You can hear it when over the area you're going over when there is contamination present
Thanks so much for all the information guys. I hadn't heard of the towels but I think its the way to go for me. It makes he most sense since i have a small car and was going to do it by hand anyway. I appreciate your help.
I use both the towel and a 4" autoscrub pad. I really like the fact that I can hear/feel the contaminants when using the pad by hand. I use the towels for hard to reach areas that only the towel can reach. I would definitively buy the fine version for your subaru and use the glide lubricant. I haven't experienced any marring when using glide as directed. I haven't tried other lubricants yet, but as soon as you break the pad in right, you should experience any major issues. Do a small section on the paint after breaking in a pad and check for marring before proceeding to do the entire vehicle.
I didn't like using Glide. It left a white film on the paint. For lubrication, I have used; Prima Slick, Auto Finesse Clay Lube, Auto Magic Body Shine, and Adams Detail Spray with great results.
I have yet to try the towel, but have both the 4" and 6"(?) pads. They work amazing and am thrilled I purchased them. The amount of time you save, especially on very neglected paint, is incredible. I use them in combination with Dodo Slippy Juice and have had great results. I haven't tried any othe lubes but may once I run out of Dodo. -Beach
