For some reason I have been getting some marring when ever I try to wipe down the paint after I finishing polishing with like a 50-50 mix. Anyone have suggestions how to avoid this? It is really starting to irritate me lol. Thanks!

Better Microfibers, less pressure. I also use Menzerna Top Inspection instead of IPA. But its pretty pricey.

I have really nice micro fibers from DD. Maybe I am using to much pressure. Any amount of time you should wait after the final polish before a wipe down?

I've seen mineral spirits suggested instead of ipa for that very reason.

Carpro Eraser is my fav for wipedowns. Hell, it even smells good.

Let the paint cool down before wiping down. Remember, the clear softens up when warm.

Bimmer, I have found that on the super soft clears I won't wipe down with IPA at all, I go with Final Inspection and the thinest nap MF. Megs. Wipes work the best I found. There very thin and with the Final Inspection won't mar.

If your dealing with soft paint than too much alcohol will dry out the solution on the finish, once the MF stops gliding it will just end up marring. Add more distilled water to the mix and that should solve your problem assuming your MF towels are in good shape and very soft. Just do multiple wipedowns with a higher dilution to get the same result.

Start with 60/40 water to alch and if needed bump to 70/30%

Has anyone here tried using Acryli-clean from PPG instead of IPA?

I'll have to mix a batch of 60/40 or 70/30 as I had this issue yesterday with my 50/50 mix :hmph:

There is no precise dilution, 60/40 is a barometer. Too many different types of paints out there to say X number of mixture will or wont work. Go by what the paint is telling you... if the towel is getting very grabby and linting than you have too much alch. in your mixture, add more DI water it acts as a lubricant.

I believe Dr.G recommended a dilution of no more than 25% IPA a while back...I'd have to dig around for the thread though. I've been using Eraser for a while now and have been happy with it.

Eraser smells so good to me I wish all their products smell like it.

I am going to try the different solutions. Thank you guys for all the feedback!!! That is why this forum is the best.

Also where do you get Carpro Eraser from?

What about mixing some ONR in with the distiller water and alcohol

I mix ONR with IPA and Distilled water. It allows the debris to be lifted and removed before it has a chance to redeposit while the IPA flashes quickly.
It works well for removing polishes and it works wonderful as a glass cleaner.

Dilution rates - 10-25% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in distilled water as a safe cleaning solution. The reason for this wide range is due to the variations in the clear coat paint systems. A less dense (soft) clear coat should be around the lower range (1:10) conversely denser (hard) clear coats should use a higher dilution (1:25)

Damn it! Then why do all of you call it 50/50 I have been having this problem for years now and thought it was unavoidable. I blame all of you! lol

Wouldn't adding ONR leave some polomars behind and weaken the LSP's bond?

I will definately be adding more Distilled water to my mix.

Well like Dave said, it depends on the paint and conditions. So the hot 50/50 mix is still something you should have.
Now I need a 15% mix as my 25% mix leaves behind too much lint sometimes.
