Well this weekend I tackled three cars, one of which was my wife's Mercedes GL450. I DESPISE doing that car because of the wheels. No matter what you use on them, it seems the brake dust just cakes on. I read on another thread that someone suggested a product called Brake Off by Malco. I decided to buy two gallons off of Amazon and give it a try. I must ay I was blown away!!!!! This stuff is fantastic. It is a thin gel that after 3 minutes of applying the brake dust was falling off in sheets. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. No agitation, no elbow grease period. Spray it on leave it for 3 minutes and hit it with a hose and you are done. Next time I tackle the monster, I will shoot a video of it in action. It's a bit expensive when you factor in the shipping, but it beats anything I've used (Wolf's Sonax, Ironcut). Nothing can hold a candle to this stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Malco-BRAKE-O...id=1344907254&sr=8-2&keywords=malco+break+off
Curious as well, considering no agitation is necessary, I would assume it is a fairly harsh chemical. I would be very cautious with that product. What other products have you tried to compare? Sonax FE, Iron Cut, Wolfs brake duster, p21s gel, etc...? Also, after they are clean, what do you put on them to protect? Just curious, thanks!
Thankfully I don't have to deal with German break dust, why don't you opti-coat her rims. It'll make cleaning them a whole lot easier. This Malco stuff sounds great but there has to be something acidic in there ( I'm guessing) It just sounds to good.
As long as the wheels are coated it will work fine. I told you guys and girls that once you tried it you will be amazed! I usually use mg all wheel brightener but if you get a nasty one, this is it! I will tell you wear gloves for sure!
Also, it is not meant as an everyday cleaner. Just geared towards the real tough ones. From what I have been told it is not an acid. I do a lot of vintage cars with wire wheels and ti works very well on them
It's great stuff but do not use on unfinished wheels. It was designed for Benz wheels. You can use on most wheels but do not let it sit for long at all. This stuff will stain wheels.
First off if you saw the video with the retard who didn't wear gloves, eye protection and skin protection then you watched the wrong video. I have personally used this stuff for a long time and I say 95% of the time you need no agitation. It really pulls everything off the surface. Stuff is amazing but way to dangerous and unhealthy for me to use anymore.
wow. I am impressed. looks perfect for a daily driver. How does it do with more baked on grime and dust?
Work well with baked on stuff. Anything that is pitted in the wheels won't be removed. But I have yet to find any cleaner that will. I wouldn't use it offen. Maybe once or twice a year. They say there is no acid in it but the substitute for acid is just as powerful and can damage wheels. I went to a Malco seminar at my last job and they said this stuff was so powerful that it ate through the flesh of a guy who didn't rinse it off his skin while working on a car. He was hospitalized for 3 days. I thought it was bullshit but they had pictures of the incident and it was pretty bad. So if anyone gets this stuff, take it very serious and wear a lot of protection. You might feel like a jackass but it's worth it.
just watched the video. very impressed, no agitation AND very quick work time. the guy sprayed it and then went to start his pressure washer and then rinsed it off right away. less than like 30-45 secs total.
This stuff looks amazing, high alkaline...so same as the Brown Royal wheel cleaner. So only use it once or twice a year? Chemgys99? Do you dilute the product?
I never use it anymore. My cars I never let them get that dirty and customer cars I just feel safer not using it. Lol but like I said if you let your wheels get dirty for a whole it's a good product to have just incase. Also it will definitely eat any sealants/waxes on the wheels off. like I said its a great product but definitely not ment for people that are new to detailing or not sure what type of finish a wheel is. Also no you do not dilute it.But you can.
Interesting. MSDS says it has sodium hydroxide and Diethylene Glycol Butyl Ether. For pro work strong strong wheel cleaners are a must!
Probably the same as presta non acid wheel and tire cleaner. (Same company different labelling silliness sent using my thumbs, mispelling most words
