Well, I've been in London for a week now and attended the opening ceremonies earlier this evening. I was wondering how it looked on TV back in the States. It was an exhilarating experience, but in my opinion it was no where near what the Beijing ceremonies were. Staying another week then heading home to wash some Porsches. Go USA!:usa:
I still have to watch the opening ceremonies, I wasn't home at the time. Why didn't you just order the EXO to your hotel instead of your home. Go Team Canada
james bond (daniel craig) and the queen went parachuting...haha she still had a sour look on her face, i don't think she smiles much Go USA Mens Basketball Go Michael Phelps, Swimming Go Usain Bolt, Track i want those guys to win.
I'm excited for this years Olympics because I actually personally know several people competing. Watch for Camille Adams in the women's 200m Butterfly. Used to date a girl that swam with her. Met her several times, really chill for someone who competes at the levels she ALWAYS has. Erica Ditmer swimming for Mexico. We were on the same club swim teams for years. Spent many many many hours in the pool with her back in the day. (Oh and both of these girls are Texas Aggies. WHOOP!) Also Jimmy Feigen for the US in the 50 and 100m Freestyle. I watched this guy break several national high school records in 2008 at the Texas high school championship. Kid is sick fast. SICK! Also, **** Olympic Basketball. As if those over paid douches didn't have enough of the spot light. Was watching Sports Center today and basketball was all the they talked about for like 30 minutes. Give the real athletes their time to shine once every for years!
I am not sure how much of the Olympics I will watch. I definitely think having pro's in olympics sports (like basketball) takes some of the freshness of the sport. As for the opening ceremony, it just seemed like a disconnected series of stage acts. I wonder how the stadium audience could follow it.
I thought the opening was decent. Obviously it wasn't as big as Beijing, but that's because China really pumped a lot of yuan into their games. They really wanted to be extravagant. For me its all about the competition on the world stage. Only the Olympics and the World Cup Soccer (Futbol) tournament seem to be so internationally diverse. To me this makes the winners true world champions. Go team USA!
I thought the opening wasn't very good. The skits like the one with james bond and the queen just seemed to go so slow. It was an interesting take on the history of England: First they were farmers and it was good, then the industrial revolution came along and ruined everything and then national healthcare came along and fixed it all. To me it just seemed like they had an opportunity to show the world what they were about and blew it. Isn't part of the reason to spend all the money hosting the games to get people interested in your country and visiting it. As a person that has always wanted to visit England (the small towns and countryside, not the city) it didn't do anything to push me closer to it.
Phelps ends 2012 with 22 medals...freaking awesome Bolt repeats as 100m gold champ Williams sisters take hold again in doubles But I'm very happy for Andy Murray...he couldn't win a big touranent in he ATP, but in his home country he wins gold at the Wimbledon court He hasn't won Wimbledon but I'm glad he didn't let the fans down in London, finally he has a meaningful win

surprise the heck out of me that it was such a blow out, but good for Murray though, something that means something, and more respect for Federer for still being so humble
yeah imagine how nerve racking it must have been for Murray...with the regular pressure to win at the Wimbledon tournament which he lost to Federer last month, and then coming back and beating him on the same court for the olympic gold in front of the fans.
with a name and celebration pose like Usain Bolt, how can you not like the guy? first man to successfully defend both 100m and 200m titles now i hope team Jamaica win's the 4x100m relay...then bolt will have back to back to back gold medals...freaking awesome!
Bolt's done it, first man to ever repeat 3 golds in 100m, 200m, and 4x100m what dominance by Jamaica on the track. now final events, go USA men's/women's basketball, get that Gold again!
