I do like the Chemical Guys line but like most of you know there is 2-5 different verisions of everything. I have been personally impressed with there soaps and Jet Seal. I would like to try lava, black light, and V7. There website does not talk about durability which is some what important to me. I tried using the search feature and the only thing i could find was about Lava but the typical CG rant about what i mentioned at the begining was the main topic of discussion, so if anyone has had personal experience with these products please chime in. I have a few LSPs i am thinking about putting up for trade to try some different products. Thanks
I have used the "Lava wax" on six cars and I like it, of course I put in one write up I liked it and a guy said why use it it is full of fillers(I finish down properly every car I do so fillers would not "Fill") and moved on. As for the durability it had been good, as I have it on my truck..........did not expect it to have sealant like durability anyway, Blacklight is also nice and easy to use and does pop the finish. I have not used V7 so no input there. Both products are worth picking up imo.
So the typical 2-4months should be exepect for lava? As far as blacklight have you tried PB blackhole and if so is it comparable or would you say its better?
I agree with bob. I have used v7 and completely love the stuff. Besides dodo juice tropical mist, it's my current favorite.
I've used all 3 products and like them. I like them on metallics--haven't used them on solid colors yet. Just my .02, but sorting out CG products can be a challenge. Either EZ Creme or Black Light seem to work well with other toppers in my experience. I just put a couple of coats of BL on my Magnetic Gray Land Cruiser yesterday per the instructions. First coat, wait 15 mins, buff off, wait 30 mins to apply second coat. I let the second coat cure for 15 mins as well. Then topped with V7. All of this is subjective of course, but I think the paint has a bit more clarity, color enhancement and depth. I've used this before on my other Land Cruiser (Thunder Cloud) and it definitely enhanced the look after curing overnight. (BL application with GG DA and black LC pad, no pressure, speed 4) Lava seems to give the same look and I'm wondering if it might not be a "solid" V7 variant? Same color and scent. I don't have an observation on longevity because I seem to always put something like V7 on the finish after washing. For prep, CG Vertua Bond is decent too. Now if I could just sort out their other sealants! A bit off your topic, but I like Jet Seal on wheels, and use Wet Mirror Finish on glass. HTH
I have Blacklight and V7. I really like both of them. I recently did a corvette and finished it off with blacklight and pete's 53, looks great imo.
You're confusing me Bob. Its like you're saying Warner Chemicals makes InstaFinish, CG, and PB. Lol. Gonna have to try Lava.
lol........ Id be intrested in some for trade, or ill even buy some, i want to do one fender on my truck and see who well it lasts.
I have BL but haven't opened yet (mainly because I bought the combo for the V7 :headbang... so does BL have any correction ability? any filler? or completely sealant?
I know alot of guys have used it as an AIO, i had a fender that was just protected with BL, it lasted about 3 weeks in the heat, with v7 i had a car last me almost 4 months.......I would recommend using it as a combo, I know some people have used BL to clean nav screens and such. Its a great product, and I use it when I can.
Cool, good to know. I purchased BL and V7 but have yet to use them (time constraints and use of other products are to blame.) How was beading with the V7? I'm content with any wax/ sealant if it lasts a minimum of 2-months. Anything after that is a bonus.
well, the car is garaged on a ranch in very hot and dusty conditions, but its not washed but maybe once a month, so I think that had allot to do with it..........(honestly I may have topped off the v7 once, but I know not more then that) beading was actually really good, I think i posted pics last year. Its not as nice a a hard wax, but it definatley shows its working. Best thing I liked was it flashes quickly.
BL is more glaze than sealant. I've discussed this product with several CG employees and they all admitted that its closer to being a glaze than a stand alone sealant.
Black Light is cool to use with 2 coats. I've applied it on a few cars already to make the metallic pop even more
