Well I never did hear back from the Porsche dealer after I emailed and called Friday expressing my interest in purchasing my wife's dream car (Porsche 911 Turbo). Saturday morning I decided to take a ride over to the dealership, but not before making a call to another dealership about 60 miles away. I told the other dealer what had happened and expressed my interest in purchasing the automobile from them if they could get the car transferred. I arrived at the local dealer and took the car for a test drive then started the game of playing with the numbers. After about an hour I threw the salesman out a low ball number. His response "I knew this was a waste of my time, that's why I don't waste my time with emails and phone calls." At that I laughed and like a perfect script, I over heard the GM in the next office discussing the 911 I was looking at. It was the other dealer asking about trading cars. The GM walked into the office and asked if I was interested in the car at $XXXX because if not, he was going to trade the car to another dealer because they had a buyer. At that I said no thanks with a big smile and walked out.

About 30 minutes later I got a call from the other dealer saying that he had agreed to trade for the car I was interested in. I immediately drove the 60 miles to sign the papers, while a rep drove down to pick up the car from the local dealer. After arriving, I noticed another 911 on their lot (Base model) same color, but black interior compared to the wife's tan interior. Feeling daring, I pulled the trigger on both and purchased the base 911 for my daughter and the Turbo for my wife. They loaded the base car on a trailer and followed me back home and when I pulled up the Turbo was waiting for me in my driveway.

Now, that is what I call service. The best part is by the time the rep got to my local dealer, they were closing and they were unable to get the second key and books for the car. I stopped by today with the Turbo to pick up the other key and books. I went right up to the front desk and asked for the GM. When he approached me he said "Sorry buddy the car is gone." I said "No buddy it's right there. I purchased it an hour after I left and also picked up a second 911. BIG MISTAKE.... HUGE MISTAKE! Maybe you should have your people starting answering emails and returning calls.

    It was priceless!!!!!

I'll post pictures this weekend after I finish their virgin details.

He didn't have a chance to say anything. I took the key and the books and as I was walking out I wished everyone a good evening and drove away..... into the sunset. Ha Ha.

Am I understanding this correctly. You bought your daughter, who just turned 16, a brand new Porsche?

Yes. She takes after me. She loves cars. She wanted Gallardo like mine, so I got off easy with the Porsche!

    See below.

:picture: I would rather see detailed pictures of the GM's face than the detailed 911s'. Certainly turned out to be a win-win-win for you. Happy ladies and a happy man...life can be grand at times! Congratulations.

Ha ha ha. What a great story. I love the fact that you kept your composure long enough to set up the ultimate "in your face". I too would have loved to see the expression on the GM's face.

Bravo! Can't wait to see pics, you should do a big shoot with all the toys!

Haven't had a chance to give either of them their virgin wash yet. The weather here has been terrible. Leaving for vacation Friday for three weeks. Here is a picture of my daughters car. The wife took hers off to get dinner. I'll post more pics once I get back.

    HAHAHA! that is GREAT!!!

I always have mixed feelings about young kids getting nice cars. I grew up in Santa Monica area, and in high school, there were kids that got BMW's, porsches, MBZ, etc. crashed and then got new ones! Never got that.

If your daughter is [hopefully] like my friends were though, one of them begged for an M3, and got it, and that car has been babied and treasured ever since, he drives it COMPLETELY responsible, never sped in it, not even ONCE on the street, and he regularly cleans it up the right way, does ALL maintenance on it, everything. He is now 24 and STILL has his car, and it still looks and drives new! and yes, he does track and drag it, of course...lol!

Artemis... I hear you. Coming from a family of 2 brothers and a sister, we didn't have much in the material things. My father was a police officer and my mother was a school teacher. All of us (children) went to private school so my parents sacrificed a lot so we would have something better than they did. As for my daughter, I've never heard the words "I want" come out of her mouth. She loves to take rides with me in my cars and she has said that one day she is going to have a good job and buy cars like I have. Her dream is to get a Gallardo like dad's. She wants to be her own person and earn what she gets. She's always been on the honor roll (More than I can say for myself) and I have never had an issue with her in school or out.

The car was purely my idea. A instant idea that popped into my head when I was buying my wife's. I guess what I'm saying is she has not been raised to be one of those bratty rich girls. She knows she has to earn what she gets and there are consequences for messing up. She can go from driving a Porsche to riding a bike at the snap of the fingers. I'm just grateful that I have the resources to give my daughter what I didn't have growing up and have her appreciate it. She's already going through my detailing inventory to see what she wants to use on the car. I caught her last night online reading about the Flex. I think I may have a detailing monster on my hands.
