This is my latest detailing job....A 1929 Model A Ford. It was a 45 hour process. The car belonged to Our Grandpa and It was Passed down to My brother. The car was sitting in the carport (outside) for the past 17 years and hasn't been washed in at least 20 years id say. It only has 609 miles on it. I only used Chemical Guys products in this restoration... enjoy ;-) These are the Chemical Guys products that I used.... these are the before pics.... Next..... The car gets completely washed(obviously) and all of the paint work decontaminated with Citrus wash & clear. The I used the Glossworks wash which brings out the gloss so that I could see the areas that need the most correction and see exactly what I'm dealing with. The rims were treated with Diablo rim cleaning gel. I then used the Porter cable with V34 optical grade compound to remove all of the heavy swirl marks and contamination that was not removed with the wash. The V34 was followed by a healthy dose of P-40 polish to finish the paint correction. I then sealed the now vulnerable paintwork with 2 layers of Jetseal 109. After this the paint got 2 layers of Blacklight, which was followed by 2 layers of Lava wax on the yellow which really makes it shimmer. The black paint got 2 layers of the 50-50 concourse wax. The chrome bumpers, door handles, and the nickel radiator got Metal Shine and Metal wax. Then the tires were treated with G6 hyper coat along with the side step mats. The canvas top was treated with a diluted mixture of Nonsense and water. Finally the entire car was again resealed with the V07 to give it the best possible shine. After......
I hope your not going to store it outside now that it is mint. Great car and great result. I am curious to know if the paint is original? If so did you read the thickness? I would not have had the nerve to polish such an old car with a polish not knowing what the base was like. It did come out great.
The car was restored in 1970 but that's it. It hasn't been painted since. I wish I had a thickness gauge. I knew that the car had never been polished before because my dad (who built this car) verified this for me.
