I've been using the car alot lately to take my mountain bike around town for riding, but my new bike rack is not being so kind to the paint. I plan to correct the areas it has affected, and then wrap them in clear film. Will just be my rear deck and upper part of my rear bumper. I'm sure I could find a place in town to apply it, but I'm pretty confident I can do a good job myself. So my questions are: What is a good brand of film and where can I buy it? Do you think it will last against the serious abuse my bike rack puts on the car? What is a general method for installing it? Pics of the damage to be corrected.
I would suggest heading over to tintdude. I use to go on that forum all the time when I was tinting. They have a ppf section, might get some good responses on there but be prepared I'm sure some people will say to take it to a professional, because they are pros at what they do just like you pride yourself on detailing. http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php/forum/321-paint-protection-film-clear-bra-forum/
This issue you might have is that protective film becomes a layer and when your bike carrier is mounted it will shift around potentially causing the film to shift and bunch in the affected.
you can get it from any reputable shop in Houston. The Xpel Ultimate and or Suntek film, Avery Nano Fusion or Ventureshield Ultra are the good films. You can put a little piece in that area that sinks in right below the bumper area itself. However i looked in the database for you and they dont make a piece for that so someone is going to have to make it for you or apply the film & hand cut it on the car or off. and once its on its not going to move. Are you wanting to just do that little piece or the whole bumper?
