Besides the obvious (gel and liquid), what is the difference between the two? Which one gives a higher gloss?
I LOVE opti-bond. Use it on all my high end jobs. I can get the exact look I want out of it and the durability is great. For lower end work, though, I use diluted Megs Hyper Dressing. No real complaints there either, I just think opti-bond looks better. Edit: I feel retarded....forgot that optimum made a product called tire shine. Thought you were talking about tire shine in general.
Tire Shine has more gloss compared to Opti Bond 1:1. Neither are greasy or "high" gloss though. I'd use the word sheen. Sent from my Verizon iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
mm i think i'll borrow some opti bond somewhere to try it out. and i see chris got himself the Verizon iPhone 4, gratz, i saw the news that pre-order went poof in 2 hours! welcome to iphone4 family nonetheless haha
Love the look of Opti-bond, it leaves my Nitto 555's with a nice matte look. Just though I'd throw that in there, sorry for going off topic.
Is this compared to the new Tire Shine? I thought the old version was great! If Opti-Bond provides less gloss (1:1) than the old formula Tire Shine I'll have to buy some Opti Bond.
Yes, I was comparing it to the current version. FYI: Opti Bond is tunable up to 3:1 for gloss, but requires more drying time. You can make it look any way you like.
I think most people dilute it 1:1 it seems, including me. It saves product, spreads eaiser, and looks just as great in my opinion. I havent tried diluting it more than 1:1.
You can yield high gloss from either as long as you don't touch it. If you spray it on and allow to dry they are both high gloss.
i use opti bond 1.1 and love it but i swear it seems to work perfect on some tires and to almost evaporate and disapear on others
I have this same problem on tires by certain manufacturers. I assume it has something to do with the specific compound they make their tires out of. On these tires I have to spray a second coat and then be sure not to touch it afterwards.
Nice to see you here Jed! I agree. On some tires, it looks awesome. On others, it goes very blotchy and or disappears.
I was one who diluted OB 1:1 as soon as I got it [as for some reason I like to put a sprayhead on everything I can]. I found it to work perfect on my BFG AT's and my Kumho ASX UHP tires but terribly on the General Grabber UHPs, however I found Hyperdressing as well as many OTC dressings to work poorly on the Grabbers until 303 ended up being perfect. I haven't tried Tire Shine but I felt like OB was versatile nonetheless and worked well on trim too.
