Ok I need some advice on buying a truck. I'm constantly borrowing people's trucks and getting sick of doing that. I need a quad cab(kids) and it be reliable. I don't have a damn clue about trucks and just want people's advice. Want an all around long lasting and half decent on gas. I enjoy the looks of newer titans and gmc's. All that being said any advice would be great! Thanks ahead of time.
I have a 2008 GMC Sierra crew cab, around town I get about 350 miles to a tank, on the freeway its about 380........ I average 14 MPG. Costs me 94.00 to fill it. That is with a 3.5" leveling kit and 305/50-20s which is a 32.5" tire. I looked at a Tacoma TRD crew cab, and it was too small, under powered and got about the same MPG....... I have snowmobiles and a boat, and it probably would have had issue towing. I have a new ECU coming with a Blackbear Tune, which will get me about 18-20 MPG on the free way. as for reliability, it is very reliable. I have had no less then 8 GM trucks and SUVs over the last 10 years and never had major failure, in fact my 99 suburban is pushing 180K and has not had a single major issue other then the radio finally crapped out. But I am very meticulous about my maintenance. I would say the only issue I ever really had was that my 2007 Denali rear diff failed at 36500, thankfully the dealership covered it under warranty, and they attributed it to "their" tech not doing the rear diff service correctly.
