Hey everyone. I am looking for feedback, recommendations, pros and cons of hot water and steamers on the market. I may be in the market for both pieces of equipment in the near future, and would love to hear everyone's thoughts. Money is a factor, but they will get heavy use, so I am perfectly aware that I will have to pay a little more to get quality. Thank in advance!

I have a used vx5000 steamer that I am looking to sell. I used it quite a bit off and on for about 2 yrs. I will get some pics and a vid for you if you are interested.

I had a VX5000 steamer, it worked great for interiors, but took a while to heat up 10 min in winter time and its not continuous fill.

Too bad, just sold my Mytee 8070. I absolutely would not go with anything less than the Mytee 8070 or Daimer Kleen Jet 200s. Whatever you get should have similar specs, or better. Nothing less or you will be disappointing. A continuous fill steamer may or may not be necessary for you. Depends on your business. I also did not have a good experience buying from Dupray. I would go with a different company.

    Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks Franki. Do you think it helped you do the job faster/more efficiently, or was it just nice to have?
Thanks for the feedback. I will look into the Mytee for sure!

Nothing wrong with the machine. My issue is with their customer service. Not going to get into details on a public forum though.

Dave, using the VX is time consuming, but the outcome will be better with it. so add another 1 hr labor into your interior cleaning. If I were to offer it again, I would charge extra for steaming and extracting. right now I just offer basic interior detail.

How has using a steamer added time for you?

I have been using a VX5000 for a few years now and it works great. I get a lot of dirt and grime out of things quicker, like dirty nasty seatbelts, all the dirty nasty cupholders, its great to use to blast out crap you cant get a tool on under seats, totally gets carpets clean and ready for Extraction, and really cuts down on the amount of cleaning chemicals you use at least in my case.
I have steamed everything from huge GMC Yukon XL (extra large), to really dirty vans, and stuff and never had a problem filling up if I ran out of water.
Dont really care for continous fill, if you have to keep a hose plugged into the machine, it would just mean more things in the way to step on, move around, etc...

Have also used the heck out of my Mytee HP60 Spyder, a great Extractor that has a big enough tank for my needs that I never have to refill. Its the same size motors, etc as the HP100's,just smaller tanks. It has a really easy to use drain for the dirty water tank that is just the right height so you can put a 5-gallon bucket underneath and pull up, and see all that brown water coming out that is all the dirt that was formerly in the carpets, mats, etc., of the vehicle you just worked on. Also has a built in 1200 watt heater so the water is heated.

On the Mytee, all the motors are under the 2 tanks and are easy to access via a hinge that opens up and they they all are.

Mytee is in SoCal too, but they are higher priced. A good lower priced alternative to their products is a place in Texas called Steambrite I believe.

Good luck with your research !

    I own the VX5000 and Mytee 8070.

the 5000 is a great machine, if you are doing only one car at a time you don't need con fill. Even if I have to refill in the middle of a job, there are plenty of other things I can do for the 13min reheat time........ I can use it as a steam the carpet cleaner or steam the carpets deeply and then extract (that is amazing what that combo removes over just extraction). its great for sport seat cleaning, seat belts, nooks and crannies cleaning. You attach a white terry cloth to the end of the triangle brush and can surface clean carpets that are in good shape and get plenty of dirty removal. I offer that as a faster and bit cheaper method of cleaning over extraction, the drying time is super short in comparison.

I like the 8070 Mytee Lite II, but my next machine will be the HP60 larger tanks and more inches of lift (carpets will be a bit drier when done) Anything larger is hard to go mobile with.

The customer service on the VX5000 from http://www.steam-cleaners-direct.com/ has always been very good for me. Steve is who you deal with all the time.

    Cheers,
    GREG

I don't see why that Vapor Clean isn't a good option. Yes the tank is small, but like someone else said, there are plenty of things you can do while it reheats. You also have to remember that the water capacity a steamer holds equates to a whole lot of steam. That steamer I used last weekend lasted for the leather seats, floor mats, front carpets, headliner, trunk and my grill. When I was done I was asked to pour the water out and I poured out about 20 oz of water. I don't know how well the steamer suggested holds up, but being made in Italy and a lifetime warranty on the boiler and heating element seems like a good deal imo.

Here is the one I would like to get:

    An alternative to the VX5000:

I have the Durrmaid 1500, that I got from Chemical Guys. So far I've only used it a few times, but it seems like its going to be a good unit. I bought it because this unit is TINY compared to even the smaller extractors like the Mytee Lite. It's got a higher water lift rating than some bigger units too. Takes about 20 minutes to fully heat up the 2 gallon tank.

I really like this unit, but I don't have anything to compare it to so
