You are correct; many people do wipe downs (one or two times) with IPA to ensure proper adhesion. It is recommended to dilute IPA down from the 99% or 70% to something closer to single digits; it has been brought to attention that higher concentrations can dry out the clear.

There are also some ready-to-use sprays on the market like Menzerna Top Inspection.

Otherwise, other techniques include washing the vehicle again with a non-gloss enhancing/silicone containing soap.

But at the end of the day, this step ensures longer life of the product; which in the case of BW it's said to be around 6 months. Even if it lasted 3 months that would be a huge length of time.

i just remembered seeing something in a post about carpro eraser. Would that work if I didn't want to go through the dilution process?

Don't over complicate things, do a few strong IPA wipedowns and your good to go.

IPA wipe down or Shine and Seal will do the trick.

You can also give it a wash with a alkalie to remove the polishing residues and oils. But remember to dry the car very carefuly after; paint sealants and - especially - coatings don't
    like water.
