Just took my wife's Jetta in for a service. Plastered a couple print offs saying 'Do Not Wash'. Works every time.

This is why you tell all your friends, family, and fellow car enthusiasts to contact you to do the delivery and keep them from using the dealerstrip 'detailers'.

Just read all 15 pages. Epic bullshit. Typical dealership quality, but epic nonetheless.

I told him to bring the car to my shop so we could have a look. My only real concern is there are some deepish looking scratches along body seams. Other than that, I can probably fix it. But yes, they are capable of that kind of damage. :(

It seems like they took paint off the edges and corners, and some parts have no clear left. Gonna be a tough one Ken.

That sucks. Worst case scenario we can document everything so he can stick it to them.

Bottom line is the customer purchased a "new car" and deserves such. Not one with trashed and hacked up paint. The dealer should provide what the customer paid for which is a "new vehicle" . Anything short of this is unsatisfactory IMHO. Time to get an attorney. The value of the vehicle has already been compromised as the paint readings will indicate. $40,000+ for this? I don't think so!

Most people wouldn't notice some swirls from a bad wash, but this poor kids car was completely fucked up. I saw some pics of it. An absolute nightmare.

I did read how he picked it up when it was raining. When I bought my wife's car, I came back on Sunday and spent an hour going over the car when the dealership was obviously closed so no one would bother me. Good enough, and bought it the next day.

Sad thing is that this guy's had a few hacks on it already, which means his clearcoat is in jeapardy to a certain extent. We all know about Subarus and their fun paint.

Breaks so you buy a new one so our technicians can have a job...sad, but true...that dealership needs to be responsible for a new paint job, and to be an asshole, I'd take it to a shop that specializes in EXPENSIVE (EXOTIC and CUSTOM) paintwork...See how they like that...And if they don't see a difference, they defenetely need to see their eye care proffessional and check their prescriptions...

He does not need a paintjob, he needs a new vehicle.

Even the best paint job in the world wont make this car "all original"

The GM of the stealership is probably a fat useless prick who never worked a day in his life. I would love to just kick his fat fucking ass all over that dealership. And then the bitch with twenty years experience & paint always have swirls???? Please.

The car was savaged by their own in house animal, I wouldnt love to be him right now,

Most car dealers are scum anyway, some are good.

Karma will get them for sure.

Cmon now. Let get real here. Wouldnt you want a new car if this happened to you? You can fix anything, but will it really look truly brand new?

Yes, I am sure some areas can be fixed close to 100%, but some of the isolated defects wont come out 100%. Besides, do you know how thin that clear has to be? Plus the clear that still has yet to be removed to fix the damage?

If this vehicle was on a used car lot and you knew all this prior to buying, anyone in their right mind would pass and find something else.

The kid paid for a new car, not a savaged one that got degraded day by day and has its clear thinned out.

A repaint makes no sense since that takes a lot of value away from the vehicle, plus then you have to worry about fixing the issues that may come from that.

Give the kid a new car, I hope that dealership gets a verbal bitch slapping everday for the rest of the time they are in business.

Ive been here, and guess what, you will NOT get a new car unless you get a bad ass lawyer, best advice I have is make a claim with your insurance company. I know state farm covers this type of BS. I bought a brand new IS350 off the show room floor in 2006, it was not as bad,but it was BAD, they said it was most likely done at the port, or in transit, as when I got the car it still had the transit plastic so who knows how it happened. The dealership "detailed it" after I took delivery, it was swirled beyond belief and they even burned a slight edge on the rear quarter panel. I documented it, called my insurance company they paid to have it repaired and delt with the dealership as a comprehensive claim.

Once you take possession of the car it become us versus them, taking delivery at dusk or in inclement weather or under a covered area is a dealership trick, once you drive it off the lot good luck. I feel bad for the owner of this car, i really do. I read the entire thread series, and it looks like the dealership is of the afore mentioned mindset, unless its in writing they will do everything and anything to defraud a customer of more money. Everything a dealership or its personnel does at the management level is calculated, there are no mistakes, its all to maximize profits. What is sad is that the sales people and support positions get all lumped up in the dishonesty. Yeah, im sure there are good dealerships, with good people but this is an example of sad to say"typical behavior" as for my comment, Grizzman, if you know me alot of what I say is sarcastic. So I was not being "real" It was more a joke..........

He did the right thing to get SOC involved, I know they value their reputation as a company. He needs to get a lawyer, get his insurance involved and have a third party photograph the damage etc, he has a good case, and I agree, a re paint would the worst thing they could do, they should give him a new car,but again I doubt it since its cosmetic.

There was a guy in fresno that bought a brand new LS460 (those on club lexus may remember this) he blew his motor either in the driveway or down the street from the dealer, the dealer did not want to give him a new car, they wanted to put a used motor in it since the car was now "used"........etc etc.
