tinted clearcoat?

    getting ready to start on a 2003 nsx in new formula red...doing some research on the car it has a tinted clear. ...orange base coat with magenta clear coat. just as a test i rubbed a small section with some cg glossworks glaze and my cloth did turn red....i have done single stage paints before but never a car with a tinted clear....any tips on what i should expect

    Tinted clears are normally referred to as Candy Paints. Rarely are they left without an additional clear clear over them. I guess you would use the same precaution as with a typical clear...making sure not to burn through it.

    The tinted clears I have done did leave some color on my pads but nothing like SS paint - I corrected them the same as non tinted clear.

    Treat tinted clear as you would with normal clear.

    Ok thats kinda what I figured, so obviously because there is a pigment to tint the clear you will get some color back on your pad, but clearly not at much as single stage like jason said :thumb: . is tinted clear laid at the same thickness as a normal clear or is it thinner at all? (know it differs from car to car as well). Ive heard a few guys say they put a few extra layers of clear ​clear on top of the tinted clear so defects and such are less evident.
