Hey guys, quick question on waxes. I am looking to buy a new wax and I am very interested in the swissvax products however I cannot afford the higher end waxes at this point like mystery or crystal rock. so my question is does anyone recommend a good wax that can hold me over until I can afford the good stuff?

swissvax concorso is it worth the money or should I hold off until I can purchase mystery or crystal rock?

So many to choose from. What are you looking for? Gloss, longevity?

For example. I use 1z Glanz wax a ton. Is extremely affordable and a quality product. Collinite 845....another great product.

I could go on all night. Search the forum. Lots of great Detailers on this site. They have all imparted their wisdom on us.

For protection and an overall wax I'd go with shield. Concourso is heard to be better then cr or mystery. If your interested in other waxes then sv. Lusso oro is amazing for the price. Great shine. And if you can get it. Naviwax. Great protection and rejects dirt better then most waxes.

Collinite is awesome, best bang for the buck. I put two coats on my car back in September and it still beads like a badass.

collinite waxea are the best bang for the buck, but Swisswax is a completely different animal. And if you can afford them-they are worth the money. However I would also look into nano coatings.

How do you guys justify the cost of SV? I mean... sure with a little saving pretty much anyone could afford Crystal Rock, but WHY? Can you visibly see a difference between a freshly corrected car topped with SV rather than a wax costing less than $100? I just don't get it. Is it for the prestige effect?

As Joey said, you need to determine your needs. As any competent detailer will tell you that prep is the key. The most expensive wax will still look like crap on a poorly prepped car. If you are on somewhat of a budget, a paintwork cleanser like Werkstat Prime will help add some gloss. I would follow the advice given and get your self some Collinite. 845 for metallics or 476 for solids. Both are bulletproof as far as duability ( either will easily outlast most offerings from the high end waves ) and both retail under $20. :)

^^^ I am with you on this.........

    all about the prep....

I could do half a hood with NXT wax, and half a hood with any swissvax wax....... on sight alone could you tell the difference? doubt it.

I'd have to agree, Swissvax is a completely different animal, price wise.. As far as performance, is it 10x more durable than Collinite? Or 10x more slick/reflective? Cause if your paying that much more for it shouldn't you not expect that? Admittedly, I haven't used Swissvax or any boutique wax, but I dont need to, to know its a rip off.. I still dont really get when people say that certain waxes add more "depth" than others and some offer a "plastic" look. Maybe my eyes need a checkin, but on a freshly corrected car, I dont think it makes a difference to 99% of the population. To the other 1%, eh, congrats.

    LOL.........

well I have seen CR on a friends BMW........ for a daily driver it is a total waste of money, and I could not see a difference between that and what he had on it before (p21s) and I consider myself a pretty educated guy when it comes to detailing.

I won't hate on it, but I would never spend that kind of money for it........(i was talking about CR)

For a daily driver, average user anything under 50.00 is going to get you a very very nice wax, be it Lusso, BFWD, any of the CG products etc. etc......

it is all relevant. Swissvax makes some of the best waxes money can buy. But is it worth it? Well, that's up to you.

Menzerna Powerlock, Autoglym HD, and Lusso Oro are what I use. Awesome LSP for the price!

I have to agree with what has been said before...all of my detailing is done on a tight budget so I save wherever I can...Collinite 845 is great with high durability, as is Powerlock and Autoglym HD. The Autoglym looks best in my opinion, followed by Powerlock and lastly Collinite 845. Only issue is the Autoglym can be somewhat tricky to apply but I think it's worth it, it really held up well on my car and looked fantastic over two coats of Powerlock :) 'course now my car is Opti-Coated since I'm at college and have little time for detailing.
