I already bought 2 of the Zymol Solaris jars so I should hold of on this for a week or 2

    :D

(I heard Solaris was somewhere around $30k per jar... And they only made 25 pots of it... And it's sold out)

They should really clean up their site before they continually push out new products. Whenever I visit the site it's like I'm being smacked in the face with billboards jumping all over the screen. It's as though it's their goal to leave no space unoccupied without an advertisement somewhere.

I fail to see how Chemical Guys starting to come out with High End waxes is crazy but SV and its $1500 Crystal Rock or $800 Mystery is seen as ok and normal.

In the end the total cost for the ingredients in the is more than likely less that $10 - $15. So almost all of these designer waxes are over priced. (And yes I have a few nice mid to higher end waxes)

Mystery, Black label, Crystal rock , divine, vintage, destiny, atlantique, royale .... there's a couple wax over 800$.. nothing new here !

When a wax comes with its own mini fridge and is delivered by armored truck then I'd be interested :):):)

All kidding aside, if I could afford it I would do a blind wax test of some of the more popular vs. the extremely expensive ones, hire a third party to melt them down and pour into generic containers and label them wax1, wax2, etc. Price influences ones opinion too much.

I think a lot of it is bragging rights and I don't see anything wrong with that, but if I used sovereign and it looked great but I told you I used swissvax mystery would you know I didn't?

I fail to see how this is any different than they over-hyped and overpriced Crystal Rock...

I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that if one of my friends were to ask and that was the situation. I wouldn't lie about what I used I just meant that without actually knowing could you tell. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the idea of high end products.

no disrespect to anyone who uses Swissvax, if you can see a noticeable difference, what is it that you are looking at and or feeling that I did not.

A friend bought a thing of Crystal Rock for his BMW, honestly I could not see shit...... and when someone posts up pics it looks like the guy that just posted up a picture of any other wax.

Flame me if you want, but I just do not see any difference at all, and your money would be spent better buy buying good tools like buffer, etc.

LSP is a small fraction of a detail, the rest if prep, decon, and actual cleaning.

    don't get it confused.

again, no dis respect, if you enjoy swissvax then by all means......

I think they have a place in our crazy world, ill give it that.

I've been extremely happy with my basic waxes/sealants after spending a fortune buying (and later selling) some high-end waxes. The finish on both of my vehicles has considerably gotten better because I'm improving my polishing techniques and not because I'm using high-end waxes. I have to agree that some of them look really crisp, but they are not worth the money, when the average car owner doesn't care about a 99% swirl-free finish.

I gave up trying to have a swirl-free vehicle that is a DD. My cars still look better than most cars on the road and most people think they are newer models.

Funny that you mentioned the Wilson. I am about to go to the range with my brother-in-law so I can test his 870. My next purchase is a 870 tactical ... ohh yeah!! I think gun ownership is the only hobby that my wife fully supports and appreciates. She doesn't even like my koi pond ... lmao.

For a guy like me, who have over 5k in detailing supplies.. the only thing I can buy is wax.. I have everything else ( you know what I mean) so the only thing that differs and make this hobby interesting is trying LSP haha!

And there's more than just look.

With waxes like Collinite 915 out there, I just don't see the point. There was a big wax test on DW and some of the boutique waxes that cost some pretty big coin lost out to 915. I think Swissvax did win in the end but there were a lot of outlier votes that make you think "is it really worth it?" The small sample, in my opinion, doesn't justify it. There are a lot of variables that could happen in a test like that (time of day perceived, finishing down better than other cars, misapplication, yada yada) and nothing is set in stone. If wax A costs $30 and performs at 95%-100% of wax B which costs $500+, to me it is a no brainer. Of course people are free to spend their money any which way they choose.

It is called marketing. This is economics 101 on supply and demand. At any given price, there is always some buyer.

yeah, but there is a certain satisfaction I am sure you get when you are using Swissvax?

I could shoot a glock all day and drill targets, but with my higher end guns it is more enjoyable. Same with my cars, I always like to fix them up and push the limits of wheel offsets and such, but as I get older I look at the practical side of cars and buy cars that look good as is....

same with detailing, i have bought into some of the fads and always come back to what works for me and is overall cost effective.

@ Gdal, 870 is a great shotgun I have owned several and always come back to them, they are better built then mossbergs and feel better too. IMO

I've never shot a gun so I don't have a clue as to the costs involved in this hobby... but for $750 worth of ammo... I better have killed something that I can eat! lol
