What's the deal? I assume the nature of this rubber is such that it doesn't adhere as well.

    Anyone else notice this?

I've seen it on two brands of winter tires.

I had that issue with some truck tires....... you may need to try a few coats. Rubber is porous after all. Took me 3 coats to get the dressing to start looking right.........

did you clean them sometimes tires are sprayed with a product called tireblack at the retail level to make them look brand new, especially if they have sat on the rack.

These were brand new tires off the warehouse shelf. I scrubbed them with a stiff brush after they were dwelling in AutoGlym CWC to remove any factory grease coating.

that is what I have on both my cars...... my neo gens, sucks up dressing like no tomorrow, and I have to apply two coats per application sometimes. My terra Grapplers are worse... both sets are relatively new, its normal with nittos.

I agree. I've seen the same thing with Nitto tires. You really need to pile on a few coats of whatever tire dressing you're using.

Some tires just don't take dressing very well. Take the Goodyears on our Explorer for example. I've quit dressing them, I just wash them with Bleche White and let them dry. Talk about a natural look!

My BF Goodrich tires dont like dressing very well. They have a really smooth sidewall and the end result just turns out blotchy

I have a question... Why bother dressing winter tires? They're constantly in snow, slush and mud.

They look so dull when not dressed. It wouldn't bother me usually, but my car is black; the contrast looks funny.

I had a similar issue with Brigestone Blizzak's. What i learned is that you have to let the rubber really suck in the dressing. It can look blotchy if i don't take the time to get it right. I'm using Sonax with fair results.
