I asked on Autopia already but would like your opinion as well. I am with verizon and able to break the contract. I have Iphone 4 now. Att or sprint? Thanks!
Well for starters, why would you leave Verizon for ATT or Sprint? Oh and as for the question, Droid Nexus Prime :headbang:
First off I don't know about Portland, but in Vegas Verizon is the way to go in terms of service. Secondly, do you really need the 4s? It is not a dramatic change, I'm sure you can live without the upgraded camera and Siri. Right now the regular iPhone 4 can handle iOS5 with no real difficulties. So it doesn't really seem reasonable to switch carriers, especially if you have to pay a ETF
The new samsung skyrocket is the a bad mofo, makes my galaxy s2 look like a old bag phone.. I played around with a 4s, gotta be honest, outside of the smaller screen i was impressed with the speed, and the camera and I prefer android phones. I think the 4s is an ample phone, but like Durabio said do you really need the upgraded camera? or Skynet?
Improvements over 4 arent significant enough for an upgrade in my opinion Camera upgrade => Use a real camera! CPU upgrade => It requires application that makes use of the 2nd core SIRI => the only real reason but not enough for upgrade Antennae changes => welcomed change but if you dont have issues with reception and such, dont need it
CPU upgrade => It requires application that makes use of the 2nd core ...........................................Really, did not know that at all, then what is the point of having a dual core if its not already running?
On mobile perspective, you could say use 1 core to run the operating system and 1 core to run the system, but reality is that running a 2nd core may cost more electricity than running everything on 1 core and still get the same kind of performance. operating system itself also have a lot of applications/services to make up the whole experience so there are probably things distributed (but again its down to operating system supporting multicore support). Applications, depending on what language/engine its running, it may or may not be multicore capable natively although many up to date language/engines are mutlicore capable. Same logic applies to computers but computers have more services running to make up the whole operating system and more recent operating systems all support multicore. Applications on them though again are down to the language/engine and if its made to use multiple cores. If its not programmed as a mutlicore application, it will only run on only one of your cores. Multiple core usage does require more logic and ability to make use of other core while one core is doing something else along with sharing of data between them and things like that. Ill give a more friendly explanation when im home (at work atm)
I don't recommend it. You aren't getting much on the 4S over the 4. On top of it, its mostly gimmicks and if you haven't tried it, you won't miss it. Not sure what's the deal with American carriers so I can't comment.
I think its a bummer that they did not go edge less with the screen, I like the simplicity of the 4s............ but a bigger screen for me is important.
I don't believe you need to upgrade currently, I did and so did everyone in my family we now have 6 Iphone 4S's but thats because all of our phones were outdated. My phone died as soon as the iphone arrived at my door step. Asking everyone we agree we don't use siri as much as we hoped, still a few kinks that need to be worked out. The camera is wonderful, the only other camera I have is the Nikon P90 and it's a big thing. So this comes in handy when snapping a few quick pics, the speeds is not as fast as I would have hoped, applications and proccessing do require you to wait even if they are simple. In the future I am certainly going to get a andriod based cellphone (my previous phone was a andriod), syncing this thing has been a nightmare! ...also the updates, the updates never stop
that is my beef with andriod: updates, crashing, freezing and overall alot going on..... but they have some benefits, I like tweaking my phones etc. plus larger screens.....but when will it stop? LOL
Thanks everyone for the replies. In Portland the service is very good with verizon except where I live, it is dead. Last week I found out that if that is the case you can break the contract. Yes I could buy an extender from verizon that may work, but after 13 years of being with verizon I realize that they don't really give a Sh..t. My wife cancelled already and I am seriously thinking about switching to Att or Sprint. I know ATT works at my house. Not sure about Sprint. On another note, I will stick with the IPhone. I really like Apple products. I may just wait for the Iphone 5 and change carriers then. I have 19 months left in the contract right now.
I have an I4. It has been amazing other than the home button had stopped working sometimes. I was all set to trade up to the 4s to resolve the button issue. I was on a waiting list and the whole thing. Interestingly enough, when the Ios5 came out, it seemed to resolve the button issue for about 95% of the time. Now that the button is working, and assuming it continues to, I will now be waiting for the I5.
