I have seen a few people that also offer other services, ex. Window Tinting, Rim Painting, Bed Liners, etc. Anyone here offer any of these services, or others? Are they worth the time investing in? Thanks in advance!
It's very beneficial to expand your services BUT and this is a very big but you have to master the skills one at a time so as a detailer from a simple decon to 3 stag wetsand and 5 stage polish///Carpet and Leather re-dying you have to do it perfectly each time (hypothetical situation) I mean try to grasp every concept of the study Then you can go into: -Window Tinting and Light Tinting -Rim Rash Repair (I've even seen mobile guys do this, just get the small lathe out, grind to a even finish and then paint over the effected area) -Minor Bumper re-paintes (Front and back bumpers) -If you own a shop you can do OIL changes -Installing HID's or light replacement -Accessory Installation (Roof rack, different grills, body kits etc..) -Powder Coating Rims -Rust Proofing I also do caliper painting, it's quite easy to learn and adds flare to a car Paintless Dent Removal Vinyl Wraps You shouldn't do all of mentioned above, but you can start at one of these places or decide to do your own thing and then work from their who knows you may actually like one of them more and decide to switch and if you have guys working for you then I definitely would recommend only choosing one or two of these because if I saw a shop offering all I would think Jack of all trades, master of none and just look for a more dedicated shops
A while back, I was asking about where to go to take courses on clear film installation... Still haven't gotten the time to do it, but 3M offers a 2 day class in Chicago where they teach you the in and out of how to do it. Plus, doing clear film installs brings in decent money.
sometimes Ill get tires and wheels...... windows tinted, etc.. all sublet out to business I know,makes life easier for the customer sometimes.
Since I'm new to the retail side of detailing I have window tint/clear bra and a PDR subcontractors that I use . Both do excellent work that I feel comfortable with and they are extremely professional. I have looked into weather tech type floor mats marketed by Omix-Ada. Being in the midwest makes a high end mat a possible revenue maker on suvs and trucks during the winter season.Another item being considered are seat and car covers by someone like Coverking. I don't want to get to the point that detailing takes a back seat to accessory sales.
