Hi Everybody, Got a call from a local independent foreign garage that has used our service in the past. A customer brought his car in for repairs and had mentioned the paint needed some help. Apparently the car had been sitting outside at another shop for long period of time as they were having trouble fixing some issues. Owner decided to bring to the car to this place, and they had the car fixed shortly. They called me to bring the car's exterior back into shape for the owner, as it was heavily oxidized. Cool little car, unfortunately the interior has many tears, dash was all cracked so there wasn't much work performed on the interior. Process: Interior - Carpets, seats, dash blown out with compressed air - Vacuum - Wiped down with OPC dilution - Interior windows cleaned with Meguiar's glass cleaner from the pro line Exterior - Wheels - Sonax FE - Tires, door jams, wheel wells, trim - OPC dilution - Convertible top lightly brushed with a light dilution of OPC - ONR wash - GG yellow clay - 3M green masking tape - Tested D300 with MF cutting disk but wasn't evenly cutting through the oxidation completely so I randomly tried it with a yellow Uber pad and it worked nicely...with PC - M205 on green Uber with PC - Had to hand polish a bunch of the nooks and crannies that the machine couldn't reach - IPA wipedown - LSP Menzerna Powerlock - Trim - 303 Protectant, the accordion looking trim was treated with Adam's in and out spray - Tires - Optimum Opti-bond - Wheel lips polished with metal polish on MF - Exterior glass - Aquawax Pictures: Sorry only wash picture Here is an example of what I would be dealing with After Before After Before - notice the bird bomb stain to the left of my finger..there were few of these but they seemed to be "ontop" of the oxidation After - bird bomb stain removed...left of my finger This picture was after the D300/yellow combo Afters Thanks for looking! Questions, feel free to ask!
Heavy on the oxidation! Great job turning it around. I'm seeing a lot of people having success with D300 on different foam pads, I may have to try that. -Kody-
Damn that was an amazing transformation! How would you compare the cutting ability of d300 on the mg and the uber yellow? BSTP
This was the first time I used d300 with a pad other than the mf pad so my experience is limited. They both cut through the oxidation "fairly" easy but the uber pad felt way smoother cutting through. The mf was a little less even in the "correction ability". The mf pads got junked up so fast that I would have had to compress the pad out every 1/2 panel, that is why i thought of trying it on the yellow pad. this is just what I was experiencing on this particular job.
