Using Optimun rinesless wash.

Today I had a Lexis Rx 350 suv to detail. In the past i used it a few times so today i decided to give it a go. The vehicle was farily new 8 months my first time detailing it, it was silver in color. Inspected the exterior and found some tree sap, scape marks that was just on the surface. I worked on the exterior first wasnt bad at all, minor cleanup. I put 2 gallons in bucket and added 3 capfuls of product. I put my wash media in for a few minutes while i sprayed the bumper with apc to loosen up bug splat. My normal routine is start on top go all around and keep working down. I did a section and dryed with a large drying towel then sprayed with onr on the section and ran the clay on it then wiped up. I can tell you it was soo easly doing it this way than spraying water all over the place. The customer was surprised also how nice it looked and only 2 gallons, i told her i want to save on her water bill she laughed. I came to the lower panels and used another media just for lower panels. I did the rims and tires next, very dirty i took a couple of brushes and used the same water, was surprised to see how clean they came out without using another product. I completed the whole suv in 1 hour, not bad i said including claying. For paint protection i used Powerlock sealant,applied by hand, on and off in no time. I was pleased with the results of using onr for washing the vehicle. So my question is are there a bunch of you guys use this product instead of using soap? I know the winter months are coming up fast that is another reason i used it, haven't used on a suv yet. I know i will be using it for up coming details, its soo easy, barely any water left on ground. I also have a couple new clients now as they wonder what i was doing, they were surprised how nice the vehicle came out, they want me to use it on there vehicles.:applause2:

 

Today was my last regular wash with my pressure washer and foam cannon for the season. I winterized my Karcher 5.85M with the Karcher Pump Guard and stored it away in my garage for the winter. I will now start washing with ONR again for the rest of the winter.

I use it via the TBM still, not with one like some people. One bucket with 2oz of ONR (a little more than suggested but hey I rather be safe than sorry especially with black paint) in 2 1/2 to 3 gallons of hot water with a grit guard with a grout sponge and a sheep skin mitt. The second bucket with 5 gallons of hot water and a grit guard for rinsing. I also pre rinse the panel prior to washing with a 64 oz pressurized sprayer with ONR at the quick detailer dilution with hot water to loosen up the grit it also adds lubricant to the surface to aid against scratches and swirls. I still wash my wheels, wheel wells, tires and exhaust first the regular way but just with hot water from inside my home, to get that out of the way first then I go to washing the rest of the vehicle with ONR. I also wait to use a quick detailer/spray wax/spray sealant after I am done washing and drying my vehicles completely not like in the video. I find its much easier my way. I got my gallon from Phil last winter when he was having his winter sale and I still have plenty left for the season.

Nice video Mike. Another thing I like to do as well is dump my rinse water at the half way point of the wash and refill with another 4 gallons of hot water 1 this keep my wash media clean and 2 its keeps my hands warm LOL, plus it only adds about 5 more minutes to your ONR wash. One thing I am going to do is use this winter is my foam gun to pre-rinse prior to ONR washing, since my pressure washer is put away for the winter and I cant snow foam until spring.

 

Just remember the Mpemba effect - hot water freezes faster than cool water(60 or so degrees).


Plus all my chemistry brethren know how much of a HUGE capacity water has to carry energy - if you keep your hands in gloves youll stay MUUUUUCH warmer. Sure yellow kitchen gloves dont look as "cool" as nitriles or latex but they will keep you dry.

 

Thanks guys for all the information, i will use another bucket to rinse my media off after, also i noticed no one uses onr to wash there windows, do you guys wash the windows and windshield to??. I do, starting from top to bottom, i use a different media for my lower panels. thanks

So glad I live in an area where I am not forced to do that.......... I tried last winter and it was more hassle then it was worth IMO, its a good product but Id rather just wash the old fashioned way

 

Neat trick with cutting the "fingers" in the sponge mike..I'll be sure to try that next time I wash the car...IN SPRING I don't know how you do it in winter I sure won't.

Also what type of sponge you are using in video?? Is it a proline grout sponge from lowes they are very soft?? thanks
