    Hey Guys,

Was just curious as to what everybody does for their winter prep in terms of timing...it's rolling around real quickly unfortunately, and something many of us are probably planning for.

Do you wait as long as possible for the first "winter weather"?

Are you a one and done? Wax/seal/whatever once before and that it until spring (minus washing, etc)? or do you wax/seal multiple times throughout the winter?

Do you change your LSP specifically for winter?

And for reference what area do you live in and how "early" does winter weather come for you?

In the past, I generally have waxed/sealed near the end of fall, in the last of the warm weather. Generally my car doesn't see much detailing during the winter--the occasional ONR wash and maybe an interior detail if I've got time. Last year I used a couple coats of Collinite 845 which lasted for the better part of winter on most of the car, but the lowers and rear required re-application.

This year was a bit different though, since I'm at college now I did my full detail in August, and just Opti-Coated it.

I live in Crestwood, right outside of Louisville, so winter weather generally hits us by the beginning of December or so, I've heard that in Georgetown (where I'm at college, about an hour west of Crestwood) there will be more snow and such so it should be interesting.

Buffalo NY - Iron is hot, it began getting warm 3 weeks ago :)

We really only use the durable stuff anyway and rely on surface prep for the final look, so changes are really only changes in surface prep. At that, its just a non correctional polishing.

Body Wrap is currently on my daily and the wife's will be getting Opti Guard or Aquartz.

Just apply a nano coating and the season becomes irrelevant.

My current go to for winter protection is two or three coats FK1000p. I have used a two or three coats of 1z Glanz Wax in winter with good durability. On those warm winter days, it's a idea good to wash and refresh the protection. Well washing should happen more than on warm days, just to give the protection a chance and your car from cancer. Sooner then later for the winter waxing to ensure it's done.

I now live outside of NYC, but lived in CNY and WNY for a long time.

I wish I had more season. I just washed my car in my driveway - probably the last time this year; it was 48°F.

I'm heading out of town for my wedding this weekend and then off to my honeymoon. By my return in Mid-November snow may be falling.

Regardless, I'm trying out AQuartz Nano this year on my dad and my car; applied it to both cars a few weeks ago in pleasant weather. I'll probably do a topper every once in awhile with Hydro Spray Wax and Reload every once in awhile.

you know i actually have opticoat 2.0, cquartz, and aquartz but haven't had the time to really get down and test them that much.

And some days i think "man coatings would be great no more waxing." and then another days i'm like "coatings...how boring no more waxing....hahah

Have fun! I really don't have anything else to say I'm not too sure what people say to this occasion.

Hahah...Thanks. I've had mixed reactions too.
How exciting, hopefully you don't have to do it again, don't do it there is still time, etc.

Do you guys do a full detail before winter?

Or just a wash, decon, clay, seal/wax and wait for the full detail when spring/summer rolls around.

I typically do a full detail about every 4-5 months. I just did my winter prep this last weekend, but then again its still 80* here. I hit the car with a finishing polish, followed by 2 coats of Powerlock and a coat of AG HD. Should keep the car beading all winter, until I redo it around March when it starts warming up again.

I purchased Powerlock last Saturday at Phil's BBQ. I did not get a chance to use it this week, and now my area is experiencing some global warming. At least my car is already wearing 1000P.
