Quick question on Iron-X

im no pro but i agree with mike. this product is intended to chemically react with iron particles. why would you want it to react with particles that can be removed on the top of the surface instead of ones that are partially embedded into the surface? I only use this product after claying for this very reason.

 

I always use the fallout remover(e.g. Iron X) before claying. One thing that you don't want, is to be pushing the iron contaminants around on the paint with a clay-bar. Remove as much as possible before touching the car.

It's the same as with tar spots.. Otherwise the clay-bar will be clogged up in no time, and that's how you get micro-marring from your clay bar.

I would agree almost completely except cases of clay marring, even on basically new or uncontaminated cars comes from the clay itself, not the contamination within the clay doing the marring.

 

It varies from paint to paint and of course what grade of clay bar you're using. But, a clay bar filled with contaminants is a certain road to clay marring.
