First I pay over two hundred dollars to have a four foot sandwhich board professionally made, then they take six days to get it to me when it was suppose to be 24 hours. Then the first day I put it out and it is raining cats and dogs. Finally, a city official comes knocking on my shop door to tell me that I have to have a permit that costs over 100 dollars for only 60 days and I have to take the sign down
Gotta love politics. I remember when i use to work at a tint shop and we moved to a new location. New building didn't have a sign on it yet, so we put a banner in front of the building for like a day and had someone from the city come by saying "I got the mayor calling me about your sign...yada yada" They'll do anything to make that money. -Kody-
what a shake down............ they are doing that here too, just no permit, they have banned sandwhich board signs all together unless you are a licensed real estate agent and you can only display it during business hours for one day a week per street or something lame like that.
I had someone from the city come by and tell me to take mine down as they are illegal in our city. I made him walk out to the curb with me so I could show him at least half a dozen others on my block. "What about them" I said. He said " No one complained about them". $100 a day if I didn't take it down. POS civic employee.
so the town / city wants money for you to put up a sign of your company? I said get a van, put all your info on there and just park it in front of the building...LOL
I can't like this any harder. I think thats excellent. Our town is the same way depending on the type of complex its in. For example an industrial type complex can't have anything on the sides of the buildings, but can have overhanging shades with printed ink on them lol. Just across the street in a strip mall, tons of the usual signage from BestBuy, PetSmart etc.. this is the town's rules, quite strange if you ask me.
honestly, I don't like random signage, but if its in a business district it is almost a unnecessary evil, that law is anti business, and pro revenue for the city... just another damn tax if you ask me.
I can't stand sandwich boards. The odd one is ok but when everyone has one, its just a mess. I like the van idea. Guys in our industrial park buy POS cube vans, put their signage on it and park them on the street. Smart.
