The lines you're looking for are:

"I need NOS. My car topped out at 140 this morning."
"Amateurs don't use nitrous oxide. I've seen the way you drive, you got a heavy foot, you'll blow yourself to pieces."
"Nah, let's make it 2. and Harry, I need it by tonight."

No, I didn't watch the movie over to make sure...I know every line by heart...No joke.

I think it's pretty obvious what my favorite car movie is. lol

Oh, and I also LOVE the "Hot Version" 30 minute movie about the FD3S RX-7's :)

Good thread. I was pleased to see several favorites of mine mentioned (Grand Prix, Bullitt, Ronin) but there are a few films no one has mentioned that I think deserve attention: The Seven-Ups, the Mad Max films and maybe Two Lane Blacktop which is kind of boring but has a nice old-school street racer. There is also the incredibly trashy Death Race 2000 (the stunt cars were so slow they had to speed up the film).

I just saw "Drive" with Ryan Gosling this afternoon. A purists driving movie! No overdone stunts or impossible train hopping, last second, exploding bad guys while saving a small child action sequences either.

Its a car guys movie with a proper story setup and unbelievable cinematography and original soundtrack.

Days of thunder, especially when Cruise says he knows nothing about cars. Hahahhaha

An excellent car movie is Super Speedway (documentary). It's filmed for IMAX, narrated by Paul Newman, following the Newman-Haas racing team through a season of building, testing, and racing.

    Definitely worth your time

From a "car" movie perspective, I gotta give another vote for American Graffiti. The '32 coupe vs. the '55 Chevy is classic! For chase scenes, Bullitt gets my nod. Even if the sound effects make it sound as if the Mustang has a 7 speed...

What's notable about Bullitt is that it was the first time that they didn't speed up the film to give the sensation of the cars going fast. It's easy to forget that filming was still (relatively) in it's infancy in those days but they managed to make great films with few tools.
