Some people like blemishes

    hamza7 Welcome to Detailing

I was just reading a review on Todd C's F-40 detail on Autoblog, some body in the comments said it was stupid to detail this car, Ferrari's are suppose to have blemishes, most "guys" wash them with water to keep the patina. Patina is loved by the Ferrari owners. He said ruined the value of the car.

Now I'm not a Ferrari guy, sure they look pretty in their red dresses but I'm utilitarian, it's 911 or bust for me. I hate the ferrari elitist concept.

I don't get how some people like having their car dirty or un-kept.

some people view a car; regardless what it is be a kia or a Bentley as a means of transportation and nothing more..... I see it all the time at car washes, people with Luxury cars going through tunnel washes, etc. I see sandblasted brand new M3's, dented up range rovers.. some people just don't care. It is sad.

He's under the impression the paint will now start flaking off since the F40 is a single-coat single stage paint (you can see the CF weave peeking through). It's true - it is waffer thin compared to other cars. But that's why you hire guys like us to do it the right way; not some speed buff volume shop.

Another point he makes is that some elitists thing owning a car of that caliber means you do nothing but drive it. He seems to be under the impression that F40 is a garage queen. I'm not sure if it is or not, but most F40s would be classified as such so I fail to see his deal.

He's jealous that the guy gets to work on such nice cars.

Honestly, seeing a bad ass car like a F40 that's not well maintained, just means the owner dosent care about it. (To me) Like Kilo said, a car is a car. Right? :p

haha i have a customer with 2 old jaguar e types that has said he likes them to have "patina".....Honestly, "patina" to me is different than dents and major scratches. it shows age but is not really neglect.

Sometimes worn out paint can look bitchin' though. Like the patina look on old cars...here's some of my favorites...

This is one of my favorites...this is a rare Bus and the owner stripped off the respray to reveal the original paint, and found the logos underneath. He had a professional signwriter re-paint the logos and blended in paint where it was necessary when he made repairs.

OK I'll stop before I post too many pictures.
