I have always wanted to use a high end wax. My car spends more time in the garage than on the road, but when it comes out I want it to look amazing. I am willing to spend $350 or so. Here are some I am considering but input would be greatly appreciated.

    1. CG E-ZYME
    2. CG Celeste Dettaglio
    3. Swissvax Concorso
    4. Zymol Concours

I have only been detailing for 3 plus years and have gone through 5 jars of this. the only thing I do not like is that the cap on the jar always has issues going back on (cheaply made).

on a freshly polished car this wax is absolutely amazing, especially if you use the paint cleaner before application.

I've always had an itch to try these waxes but the $$$$ was just too much to justify for negligibly better results compared to more affordable protection. If I ever feel like using a carnauba again, Dodo SN would be my choice and I already thought that was expensive. With all this said, I would vote for Concorso.

You would think for the coin you shell out to Swissvax they would have a better tub, like RaceGlaze.

    awdxtc,

you should buy a bottle of menzerna power lock if you decide on buying a jar of concorso. apply this and then apply a coat of concorso over it. I "always" use this method and my friends stare at my car and giggle because the look is nothing they ever get to see their car look like. they assume I spend days to make it look like this and wash it every day or something. not true.

"layer" waxes on top of sealants is alot of fun and intensifies the results as well as add more protection. if you ever want to try layering concorso, this is a must to play around with but I always wait no less than 8 hours before applying the next layer and never apply more than 3 layers. the first layer of wax begings to become unstable with all of that wax on top of it. personally, I would save the product and do one coat of power lock and then stop at 2 layers of concorso.

it is just amazing and you will love it

Would probably go for the Concorso, but I find that much cheaper waxes also does work and sometimes also has the same durability. Have you tried Nattys Blue or the CG 50/50 ?

I haven't used any of the ones mentioned, but I do have Zymol Glasur, which in my books is a "high-end" wax @ $125 a tub and "designed specifically for Porsche's." I think it looks fantastic, and is well worth the price if looking only for a "pretty" wax for weekend outings in your baby, regardless of what it is.

I have always wanted to try 50/50 or sovereign. I am really leaning towards either the concours or the CG celeste

For the price of any of those I could show you how to polish your car to a point you could use Turtle Wax and it would still look better than any other car on your block. The more perfect the finish before you apply your wax, the less impact it will have on the look of the car, regardless of how much it cost. Unless it Zymol Vintage. That stuff is magic, even on perfect paint.

    Ken...

In your opinion, is Zymol Glasur worth its price?

Sorry but I haven't tried Glasur. Yet. But IMHO, very few waxes are worth what companies charge for them. The only reason companies charge upwards of $250 for a jar of wax is because people like us keep paying it. I think some very nice waxes like RG55 can be had for around the $100 mark. The benefits of purchasing a wax more expensive than that, for the most part, are lost on me.

If all depends on the condition of your car and how OCD you want to be. Here are some suggestions for you...

Light swirls and damage associated with washing the car - PC / BS Green / Power Finish

If the paint needs more attention, PC / Megs MF Cutting Discs / Megs D300 compound followed by the BS Green / Power Finish

If you are OCD, use the above two steps and then follow with BS Black / Menz 85RD to really amp up the gloss.

I am ocd. More like protective lol. This car is my baby. I sunk 50 grand into the engine and drivetrain. How are the menzerma or adams polishes? Also I know what megs is but who makes the other stuff you mentioned?

The PC is a Porter Cable 7424XP. BS is Buff and Shine. Menzerna makes the Power Finish and 85RD.

Please follow this advice ... I lost tons of money buying expensive waxes. I did manage to try really nice ones, but IMO they were not worth the cost. I'm back to 845, AJT, OCW, and now trying Wolf's Body Wrap.
