So besides the polisher what do you guys think about the griots products; I heard the wheel cleaner sucks, and the clay may be to soft to work with; I was interested in seeing if you guys had experience with the clay or any other products that might be worth a try.
I have been using the HD Wheel Cleaner for a few weeks now and it does work well on wheels as long as the brake dust is not baked on or built up in corners etc. And yes, the regular wheel cleener is woefully inadequate on anything but clean wheels where soap and water would probably get the job done.
I love the 4-Finger Wheel Mitt. The Wheel wands are good for reaching into wheel barrels. Come to think of it, I guess I don't really use any product, just their tools. I guess I figure for the price there are better alternatives.
I really like their speed shine microfibers. They are super soft and work well with QD, wax, sealant. I recently tried the pre wax cleanser and love it. And their clay works well too.
I love griots clay for some reason there clay is much better then any of the clays you can buy in the US
I have speed shine, car wash, and the clay. Speed shine works great but I rarely use it. I like the wash but don't use it now. Use the clay all the time for the past 4 years, but now have CG blue. Also use the large waffle drying towel, which I like.
As others have stated, Speed Shine is certainly one of their better products. The large waffle drying towel is great and outperforms most of the others towels I've picked up from other online vendors. I still stand by their interior and carpet cleaners. The interior cleaner has certainly taken care of multiple beverage spills from carpets both in cars and within my own house. I've since started reaching for 1Z W99 for spill cleanup but you won't be disappointed with either of those two cleaners. Like previous posts, they have a lot of great tools. Most of them are available from other online vendors if you search long enough. However, Griot's does stand by their customer satisfaction guarantee. It still cracks me up when people say that Griot's products are good but overpriced... Their basic entry level bottles are 35 oz and most of the products range from $8-$15 per bottle. Seems most of the other products commonly praised are the same price for half the quantity...
Weird, guess I got lucky then. Both my large and small bottle of Speed Shine came with sprayers. I got them a while ago though, and from a store that resold GG stuff.
The regular wheel cleaner is more or less useless. The dried on wax remover is okay, not a big fan of the way it dispenses the product.
I have heard good things about the Rubber Cleaner. I have been considering trying some. Not for use on tires but to see how well it cleans the exterior rubber seals around windows and the strips of rubber that are commonly found in the rain gutters on car's roofs. It seems like when that rubber gets heavily spotted it is very difficult to remove with a normal APC. Been using 1z Deep Plastic Cleaner after the APC, but that is not really meant for rubber
Their clay is #1. SpeedShine is good, but I go with Optimum Rubber cleaner is very good. Get some. Interior Cleaner (APC) is very good - a little harsh - I prefer 10:1 Woolite HD Wheel Cleaner is OK - like Sonax and everything else. Will work for garage queens. The baked on wheels, no. Their Rubber and Trim dressing is $$$ and nothing special. Just bought the 3" orbital (new one). OK. Their polish system is more geared to the Simoniz crowd. Not "paint correction". Their plastic bottles suck. They're made of a brittle plastic that will crack if dropped from anything more than 6" on a concrete surface. I've lost approx $50 worth of Griot's chemicals this way. Basically, all I get from them anymore is their rubber cleaner and clay. Everything else can be sourced with better and cheaper products elsewhere. Their new facility is quite an extravagant experience.
I really like their clay. Car wash is pretty good, I keep it in the rotation but prefer Duragloss. Speed shine is also a good product.
If you have a car with months (or years) of baked on road crud, then Griot's Paint Prep is fantastic! Just avoid getting it on plastic mirror shells & such. It loosens the crud, but doesn't harm the paint.
Those wheel wands are a great price. Now granted, you just get 2, but still a lot cheaper than the wheel woolies at AG. Not sure how they compare?
