powerlock or jetseal

I have been using powerlock since it came out and fmj before that. Love how lomg it lasts and how a very small amount of product goes a long way.

Have never used jetseal and see that its reviews r all top notch. A few complaints here and there about longevity but ver few inbetween. I see that it is suppose to cure and buff off quickly and this is something I really like about powerlock.

Wanted to hear from any of u if the results (shine, wet look, color) of this product is better than that of powerlock before I run out and buy some. Am fooling around with finding the best detail spray to open my shop with and don't want to dump more money on trying another sealnt just yet

Any response would be greatly appreciated

The durability is quite poor, worse than FMJ. Maybe 2 months tops. I bought into the hype when it came out and regret it. It looks great for about a week and then drops off fast. It seems that most people that still use it are using it as a base for a nuba topper, but then you might as well use the CG EZ-Creme. Personally I do not care for any of the CG sealants. I have ended up using ther CG Blacklight more as a base coat/glaze to topped with something else for durability.

Wow really! Yeah fmj was bad but loved the color. If it last sless than that no need to bother then. Thanks for the input on that then. If anything I would apply it and then top it with powerlock, that might be a good stack for dark color cars as I find it helps to trat different colored cars with different combinations to make sure they pop equally.

Example, I find white cars to be boring to work on because there is not as big of a transition like a dark colored car.

DonĀ“t care for Jetseal. Keep Power lock and try something else, maybee Aquartz? I have some for trade.

I have always been a big proponent for PowerLock, the only time I would say that Jet Seal out performed Power Lock was in its application in a humid environment. PowerLock was tough to take off after application but just barely. Here in VA it get's insane in the summer and I found Jet Seal goes on easier but like the others have said the durability to me is not as good as PowerLock and neither is the look it produces. I will stick with PowerLock 100% of the time going forward even if the application is just a tad bit tougher.

This is good info, thank you. I too was contemplating trying Jetseal based on others reviews I have read about its durability. I am very happy with MPL and have been using it for about a year now, but it's the only sealant I have ever tried, so naturally I am curious as to how others perform.

The initial slickness when you first wipe off MPL is very appealing to me, and gets me a lot of compliments from passengers while trying to close my doors :)

I get the "geezus, how many coats of wax do you have on this thing???" comment often. Then I am faced with a decision: Do I try and explain to them the differences between a sealant and a wax, or do I just smile and save my time?

Oh and here's an old post from 2007 I believe, testing the durability of Jetseal (vs. Collinite)

Cool. Then I will stay with power lock. Just have to focus now on a detail spray that makes the car shinny as hell before I apply pl and I am ready to gp. I have pinnacle's mist spray coming as well as prima hydro and slick, one of them has got to work

It's funny you say that since it's the only one you have tried that you want to try others. I went through the same thing and bought multiple sealents but always come back the PL. I feel like I am at the point now where I use what works and stick with it. My two main sealants now are PL and Prima Epic.

Jetseal 109 is not a bad product. It's easy on and de entry easy off. However, the beading is poor and it does not last very long. I never saw anything more than a month which is why I always topped it with a nice wax.

Power Lock is where you want to stay.

I was using Jetseal on carbon fiber hood of a clients car I regularly maintain. Looks great, that is undeniable. But it does not last, I was constantly topping it up maybe ever other month, used MPL and have not had to mess with it since. and that was 2 months ago
