Thanks! And wow those look awesome! Wish I could do half of that. I may get in contact with you when it comes time to do the kitchen if you would be interested.
Thanks. Its work but seeing the results is paying off and knowing my grandpa would love it is worth it. Most of the wiring is okay. I will be doing some updates to some of it though. Be running some new lines, all new outlets, some lights for the closet and bedroom, and a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
Thanks. Yeah the wiring is good for the most part. A few lines will be redone. I really don't think I need hangers of the joists as its just a closet. No one will ever step on the floor or any weight on it. I may throw some crossing bracing in though.
    Thanks!
Anytime, as long as you supply the beer, lol. I love doing this kind of stuff. Thanks!

I am not sure what the do with the cabinets between the vanity and toilet. They kind of make the room closed in I think. But if I remove them there is going to be a square box that runs floor to ceiling still on the wall. As inside is a vent pipe coming up from the basement.

I have thought of taking the cabinets out and extending that box to the right and left the width of the cabinet that's in there now. It won't just look like a square box coming out of the wall but mabe a vent or somethings behind it. Then hanging shelves off it that are open to open up the space.

Here's the barn I redid when I redid the house. The left "lean-to" wasn't closed in. There was no garage door on that side and the walls on that side where just wood that had wide slats in them. It was used as a "corn crib." Also the right "lean-to" wasn't even there. The barn use to end on the right side of the small service door. I added the right "lean-to" to make the barn more symmetrical.

And how it sits in relation to the house.

The small building between the garage and barn is a well house. There use to be a barn that is bigger then the other one there that was the horse barn. But it was getting old and wasn't worth redoing so I just tore it down. Also in the middle of the circle driveway is the pine tree which will hopefully be coming out this fall or next spring as I have a huge flag pole that I will be putting in there.

Found this when I removed the vanity mirror from when they had renovated the bathroom. Thought it was pretty cool. "Listen to Priscilla unless Al is home." My grandma was Priscilla and my grandpa Al.

The hole in the floor is what they used as a laundry chute. The door on the vanity opened and you threw your clothes into a basket in the basement. Also that huge pipe floor to ceiling is a vent that I am going to try to put in the wall if I can. If I can't ill have to build something around it. And the pipe coming out of it is for the sink. I am going to cap it on the tall pipe and just run it straight down from the sink and make a turn in the basement to put it back into the big pipe.

wow, that is some hefty construction going on. My suggestion would be to 86 the carpet and go with some laminate flooring. The ending result of it will be superb and it might even cost the same amount as carpet. It's easier to clean and adds a upscale look to the house. I love that stuff.

Looking forward to more progress on the house.

Save yourself some money and have the tub refinished and just encase the pipe with sheet rock. Do you still have the wood from the barn? If so, see if you can sell it to a company that reclaims wood and use that money towards your home project.

Thanks! I really don't care for laminate flooring though. I would love to do would floors but if I ever rent the house out then I would be worried about them getting destroyed. Think Ill stick to carpet in the living/bedroom. Not sure what ill do in the kitchen/entry when the time comes to redo them.

Thanks! I am just going to get a whole new tub all together, thanks though. Yeah I still have some of the old wood actually in another barn. I may or may not sell it down the line. For now it will get older in the barn, lol.

Got all the drywall off except behind the toilet. Hope to get the toilet/tub out this weekend and go look for a new vanity/tub/toilet. And hopefully start dry walling the rooms here soon.

Not a whole lot of progress. Between harvesting and school I didn't have much time. Now I am plowing so that takes up a lot of time. School ends next week so I have a few weeks off, hope to get some things accomplished. Been thinking about what to do with the bathroom. Drew up this plan real fast. It will only work if I am able to put the huge vent pipe in the wall, we will see. But I really like it, takes away the wall right when you walk in on your left next to the tub and opens up the space a lot I think. Think I need to stick with a tub/shower combo as its the only bath in the house and I think a house should have at least one.

Here is a pic of how I would love it to turn out pretty much and the layout. Think the tile sides add a lot more then just a solid tub surround even if it would be a little more work to upkeep. And have the bigger tiles so there is less grout then having a lot of small ones.

Would you do shelves like these?

Or an indent like this in the center (probably a little more down for people in the tub) or the indent on the opposite side of the shower head/faucet.

Nice sketches, you may want to add a tall floor to ceiling cabinet to store towels and such in the far corner next to the vanity, something even as narrow as 18" will add plenty of storage and keep it neater as well, if not you may look into a double sink since its the only bathroom in the house, just a thought; good luck with project and getting things done over winter break. My list to do over winter break is huge, a lot of long nights proceed me as well

Edit: just saw the window to the far side of the room, never mind a tall cabinet on that side, maybe a floating shelf system may help with storage of towels, give it kind of a modern spa look, but definatley the possibility to meld with the traditional style of the home.

Awesome job bud! Looking really good. In the bathroom, I'd do the indent in the second pic.

While I am in no way an expert, I have helped my dad with a few projects. I really do like that niche in the wall. What I would do is from the tub up, start with a half tile, that way the niche is low enough to reach. Also, to make it flow a bit better make the niche exactly the size of one tile and make it where a tile would end up going, rather than leaving a third of the tile as shown. If you like, you can probably do two of them, one for the tub user and another for the shower user. Please take my advice with a grain of salt, like I said, I don't know too much.

BTW your work looks very nice.

Been a long time since I've updated this. Just got back to working on it this weekend due to a very busy summer. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can get back on it and get some things accomplished.

Garage with two of the toys that I haven't even drove all summer (though I may sell the s10, not sure yet)

Half of the floor underlay up. Couldn't pull it off in big pieces as it was nailed like every two inches and then the glue from the linoleum was covering the top of the wood so I couldn't pull the nails out.

    All broke up.

    Cleaned up.

What looks to be the old siding or such when the put an addition on at some point.

And what I found when I took the ceiling down, don't think your supposed to see light, lol. Time to get a new seal.

Probably will just take the ceiling 2x4's down as they are just sitting on top of the walls so I can just put in new ones.

And some of the junk from the bathroom.
