Review: Carpro TarX Introduction: Avi contacted me a few weeks ago about testing TarX, the new tar and adhesive remover from Carpro. Well today a box arrived from the very Far East containing TarX and some other goodies we'll look at later. Product Claims: A super strength tar remover that derives its power from 100% of the solvents extracted from orange peels. This product contains no chlorinated solvents or harsh chemicals and is not corrosive. It is over 60% active ingredients. The TarX will leave surfaces clean in one step. Use for all purpose degreasing tar and asphalt removal, insect , tire mark ,adhesives spot removal, traffic film and many other tough cleaning jobs. Use this product where a tough solvent or tar remover is needed. TarX has slightly more viscosity than other tar removers so it will cling little longer to the surface. Quickly penetrates and loosens tar, so it may be flushed off with water. TarX can also be used as heavy duty parts and equipment cleaner. TarX Best feature we made called : " glow color tracer " , trace the sprayed area on dark or black color cars, TarX will glow at night as well if applied so no chance to leave traces on dark color cars while rinsing. TarX fluorescent color will wash off easy with water rinsing. Features: CUTS THROUGH HEAVY GREASE AND TAR GREAT CITRUS ODOR FAST REACTION COLOR TRACER EASY TO USE TAR REMOVER AND CLEANER SPRAY ON OR BRUSH ON TO REMOVE TAR HEAVY DUTY FORMULA BASED ON RENEWABLE SOLVENT AND NATURAL INGRIDIENTS REDUCE INTENSIVE CLAYING SAFE ON FRESH PAINT , PLASTIC TRIMS AND VINYL FILM ** **- up to certain amount of time frame. Shake well, spray on dry surface 2. Let react on surface for 1~2 min. or brush/wipe on with sponge pad . (spray some TarX on the sponge as well) 3. Rinse thoroughly with power wash or water. Details: 1.- Packaging: 2oz sample bottle 2.- Directions: see website 3.- Viscosity: watery 4.- Color: cool neon yellow 5.- Scent: citrus 6.- Regular Price: na 7.- Manufacturer: Carpro 8.- Made in: Korea Products used for application: 1.- microfibre towel Carpro TarX on the left and Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover on the right Donor wheel. The VW beetle that I have in the shop just happens to be loaded up with road tar. Products were both sprayed on wheel, TarX on the left and AG ITR on the right Close up of TarX showing the colour tracer. I only had a few oz to play with so couldn't really load up the TarX to get a true neon glow. AG ITR is clear so doesn't show up. The smell lets you know it's there! After 5 minutes, I smudged a chunk of tar on both sides of the wheel. Both products had softened the tar considerably. Following the directions, I used my pressure washer (6hp / 3gpm) to rinse the wheel. As you can see, not everything was removed from either side. A subsequent wipedown with a mf towel sprayed with the TarX easily removed the balance of the product. After trying this product against one of my fav tar and adhesive removers, I have to say at this point I am very impressed. The product does what it says it will and smells great doing it. The only thing that differed from the factory claim was that it wouldn't all come off when rinsed with water. To me it's insignificant as I normally spray a towel with the product and wipe down anyway. The bottom line is that the product works well and as long as the retail price is good, Carpro could have another winner.
