Tool to safely remove snow from car in winter?

    Kaban Welcome to Detailing

I am probably crazy for making a thread about snow at this point in time, seeing how the past several days have been over 100 degrees here in Chicago.... BUT,

I was just thinking this afternoon, many people here polish their cars and are forced to drive those cars in the winter because not all have the luxury of having multiple cars.

Have you guys found any paint "safe" brushes that will not mar up the paint or put swirls into the paint as you're getting snow off your car's roof, trunk, hood, windows, etc?

I would hate to scratch up our cars with cheap brushes that I have been using for years. I looked at them recently and feel they are way too rough.

    Any comments or suggestions? :headbang:

P.S. maybe I will bump this thread up around late fall to get more responses. :thumb:

No. :) And its probably the snow and the grit, dirt etc... in the snow that will marr the paint up. In reality the glass is a bit harder so you could carefully brush some of it off.

Start the car and heat it up, or remove the snow using the "cup and throw over shoulder method" with your gloved hands leaving a thin layer behind ;)

Not to be a tree hugger (cause I'm not) but I don't think heating up the car to melt snow (just to save a bit of detailing work in Spring) is a good idea. The gas you burn and the crap that goes into the air seem like a really bad trade off to avoid a few swirls that can be taken care of later. OK... off my high horse :)

To me, be careful, lightly brush off the snow and leave a thin layer on the paint. I will often will use a gloved hand to remove the snow as I can avoid "rubbing" the paint too much.

Shave all but about an inch off. If law permits leave it as it should blow off on the road.
Now that I have an electric leaf blower I will try that.
