I know that people are praising Meguar's new DA Microfiber Cutting Discs but I've also seen some people use Surbuf's Microfingers pads.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen as much regarding the Surbufs.

So the question to the pros - which would be better/easier for use with DA?

MF cutting discs are easier to use, but Surbufs are still more aggressive. The MF discs are almost foolproof in how they finish down though. They can sometimes be a one-step all on their own. Surbufs leave a noticeable haze, but it can usually be knocked out in one more step.

I like the surbufs, but they flake off real easy.........

What do you mean by "flake off real easy" Karl? I have been wanting to invest in some to use with M105 for when I am not using my Makita and using my PCXP

the little fibers flake off, and i am not sure why, I tried washing one too see if it stops, tried to keep it wet as well. Its like they lint when they are used. They work great, but that was my only complaint.

I am guessing they dont last very long if they constantly are releasing the fibers.

yeah, not sure on longevity, but Megs MF system looks legit.

I agree with Karl here, surbuf pads with 105 is as aggressive as DA compounding gets, but boy the dust from 105 and lint from the pads = serious mess to clean afterwards.

I think ill stick to M105 with a yellow uber and my makita rotary for compounding:)

After getting the DA, I would rather use D300 and a MF cutting disc for compounding.

ive seen a lot of guys using 105 with the mf system, do you guys think the d300 is already strong enough or does 105 work better if you've tried it

They both work good, it just depends on the paintwork your trying to correct. M105 has more cut and can be used via rotary and d/a, where D300 has a less cut than M105 and is a d/a specific compound.

I've tried a combo of M105/D300 and that works well, gets the dust down to nil, but - try 3D's UNO, works better and you don't have to buy 2 products.

I think surbufs are easier to physically use, but don't finish as well as the MF pads. With MF pads, you have to rely on pressure which equals more fatigue. With surbufs, only light pressure is required and they glide across the paint.

Interesting...I picked up some MFs since this...but I'd love to try some Surbufs still (and the new CG MFs).
