You don't begin to appreciate some things until you try an alternative. That would apply to 1Z's Anti-Frost Washer Fluid. You know that bright blue or green fluid that convenience stations sell? That's what's in my parents cars reservoirs right now. After driving them and driving with them, that solution smears dirt around and leaves a distracting haze on both windshields. My car has 1Z and it's like those Windex commercials with the birds. It's like the glass isn't there. If you care about clean windows and more important, your safety. Do yourself a favor and buy some if you don't already have it. It's well worth the extra cost (actually cheaper if diluted).
Have to agree, very happy with Anti-Frost. One bottle should last me the winter. Not very impressed with Eisteau, but my expectations may have been too lofty.
I am going to try the anti frost now i heard some good things... I too was not impressed with Eisteau. Didn't work too well at all on thick windshield ice.. i won't buy it again.
What are the dilution ratios you guys are using? Looking at it myself but my tank is a little over 1 gallon so I would like to fill the tank when I finish the tank of colored water I've been using.
I didn't carefully measure it. But probably 2 parts AF, 1 part water. After we got 22 below 0 I wanted it strong.
I know we're several months removed from winter but felt it was still worthwhile to provide a brief comment. Have to agree with the OP as to the greatly improved visibility that Anti-Frost provides during the winter months. We had what seemed like a constant state of snow, ice, freezing rain here in Missouri and the roads were frequently wet with the DOT salt solution. Windshield was constantly getting sprayed and coated with all of the winter crap and just a short burst of Anti-Frost provided a clear view. With the typical washer fluid, you'd need multiple sprays to even begin to make a difference in restoring full visibility thru the windshield. An excellent 1Z product and will continue to be a must have during the winter months!
Glad this thread got updated, I can update on a previous comment. I stated that I was not impressed by the Eisteau. Once March hit, I really found the perfect use... I based my dislike on its effectiveness on removing ice when there was a lot of snow on my vehicle. Cold mornings without snow but frozen rain is where this product really shined. You don't always have the time to let your car warm up, and a good coating of Eisteau got me out of my driveway, on the road, and into work quick. I think I expected a miracle in a bottle during the coldest days, but it really is effective when given reasonable conditions to work in. Used in conjunction with Anti-frost, it truly is a winning combo compared to $1.29 gal of garbage available at your local gas station or Walmart. Great products, always deliver :thumbup
Regarding Eistau, I found it is perfect for frost - just spray and wipe with a towel. No need to break out the ice scrapper for a mm of coverage. It definitely cuts down on the scraping time with moderate ice coverage too.
Thanks again for all the great feedback. I remember when I first tried Eistau when visiting my sister out in Ohio. I also expected it to miraculously melt the frost and break up ice below it on its own. I thought to myself that the product wasn't working too well. With expectations lowered, I gave it another go, and like you guys are saying, I found it to be helpful in breaking down the ice and frost. Thanks again guys. Glad it's working for you. BTW, in the past couple of years we've either introduced it too late into the winter season or ran out. This year we already have it in stock. While it's early to talk about winter just wanted you to know that we are better prepared this year
Gladly. I picked up the last two bottles of Anti-Frost that Phil had back in like late Feb. Not sure if he got more in at that point but I'm ready to use it again next winter an in my (then to be) wife's car. I'll still need to pick up some more for my parents though.
