Client asked me to remove tar on her White Audi Q7 today. It's probably be on there 3-4 months. Any suggestions on how to get this stuff off?

Spray on Tarminator to affected areas and let sit for approx 1 min. and wipe off with a microfiber or try 3M GPAC if you have that

3M general purpose adhesive remover will remove tar. Can be purchase at some retail stores too.

I would recommend applying LSP to the area though after you follow up with a wash and rinse.

As with most product - at the end of the day - it all get you to the same end result.

    A few points of variance:
    • price
    • point of purchase
    • application
    • amt. elbow grease.

Be careful with the 3M adhesive remover. I used it on my car last week and it left a haze on my plastic bumpers. I went over this areas with Poli-seal and the haze was gone. The can actually has a warning about this issue. It only happened on my rear bumper even though I sprayed the door bottoms.

3m adhesive remover can generally be found anywhere that they sell house paints. I have used the liquid 3m adhesive remover. beware, this stuff is very toxic and you need to wear gloves so it does not get on your skin and it is also highly flamible. I dip a MF towel into it and wipe the area with tar or paint overspray lightly, with no preasure, back and forth until tar, paint is gone.

as far as plastic and trim goes, it is a BIG no no. do not get this on plastic or trim as it will fade it immediatly. if you do get some on the trim and it fades it, dont panic. simply get a light polish and put a dot of it on a MF towel (like the ones from costco) and rub it in lightly on the trim that is faded and it will polish out the chemical burn.

let me know if you have any further questions

Hmm...almost forgot about IPA...that removes most anything. Once again, apply some LSP back to the treated area.

I ended up using tarminator, letting it sit for amount a minute and then it came right off. Great stuff ended up literally using an entire can on the car haha. Thanks for the help guys. I'd recommend tarminator and then if its pretty severe go with the 3M Adhesive Remover

I'm basically cheap. I would try Naptha first. Just go to Wal-Mart and buy a bottle of lighter fluid.
