2 weeks ago i washed and put a layer of 845 on my black LS430. A few days ago i washed again with Ultra Gloss this time and put a layer of Lusso Oro. After waxing the car was outside for a few hours and when i came out it was covered in dust. I remembered FK425 says it has anti-static properties so i did a full wipe down with that. Car looked amazing until the next day when it was apparently still a dust magnet. Is there anything better than 425 to use in this scenario? Edit: Car is only outside from 12am - 10am. The rest of the time it is garaged.
I don't know of other QD with antistatic. One thing I can think of is maybe your mf towels have static?
I have the same issue with 845 and 476s....and all my other waxes and sealants. I wish there was a good solution that visibly reduced the dust buildup.
I had my SER topped with 845 after a polish. And damn next day it was covered in dust also. Wiped with QD after the wax because it says it also has antistatic and still it was covered. I thought it was pollen at first, but no. Are there any waxes that prevent dust from building on the car?
The only ones I have found are of course from Prima :thumb:Epic and Hydro help repel dust quite well. And are super easy to use.
Prima Epic and Prima Hydro is a wax or a antistatic quickdetailer? I am confused. How durable are either of these waxes (I am assuming they are waxes)?
Hydro is a spray wax/QD/swirl filler/hologram eraser. Epic is a synthetic wax. Both are considered waxes and will help reduce the build up of dust on the paint's surface.
What about Prima Slick? Prima Slick is a polymer-fortified quick detailer that leaves paint with a warm glow and fantastic slickness. The blend of polymers produce a shimmering wet-look shine while leaving an extremely slick finish. Mild cleaners lift grime, smudges and fingerprints. Its anti-static properties resist dust accumulation. Prima Slick is even an excellent glass cleaner. Slick is silicone-free and safe on paint, plastic, glass, metal, vinyl and rubber trim. Try Prima Slick on your eyeglasses for a surprisingly clear and bright finish.
If the pollen down there is as bad as it is here right now I would not expect anything to help you. Not sure if any of the other posters are from NY, but the pollen here is ridiculous.
Anti-Static Static [the process causes electrons to be pulled from the surface of one material and relocated on the surface of the other material] Static electricity is an occasional annoyance in seasons of low humidity, but is usually caused when certain materials are rubbed against each other (friction).Using products that do not contain oils (i.e. polymer sealants) will help by not attracting dust. Finish Kare's 425 quick detailer (QD) has in-built anti-static properties. A 100% cotton micro fibre towel is inherently anti-static; as opposed to the static build-up caused by friction using a polyester Microfiber towel on a polythene clear coat However pollen dust is another subject
If you're going to try the Prima make sure to pick up a bottle of Banana Gloss as well. They all work so well together especially on black. I use either Hydro or Banana Gloss after each wash. Both are super easy to use.
+1 on Banana Gloss. It's one of my favorite products because you can use it in the hot sun or cool shade. 90% of the time I have to work outside, and every other wax says to keep out of the sun I wish more products were sun friendly!
you're always going to have dust accumulating on your vehicle..... thats just the way our climate is no matter where in the country you are..... the only thing an anti-static product is going to achieve is to reduce the actual amount of "grab" the dust will have on the vehicle which will lessen the chance of marks on the surface when you wash it the next time. I live in a windy, and highly dusty area of WEST Texas and i can literally close the door of my car and see the dust blow off after a few hours of the car sitting after applying an LSP of some sort, anti-static or not.
