these are very cool, also there is a monster miata same but it drops a big block 427 in there. Problem with the v8 conversion is so much has to be addressed due to weight in the front car becomes unbalanced. Need Brakes and loads of suspension upgrades. Using the mazdaspeed miata and upgrading a few parts will be very cost effective and achieve very nice results. I have been wanting to do a miata v8 for a longtime I have a donor 5.0 with a c6 trans and a 9inch rear no miata though. Also insurance, gas and maintance on a miata would be less than any other of the cars mentioned. Other cars in this price point is a S2000,RX-8,MS3,GTO, Im not sure why everyone seems to love the 350z. They are known to have faulted front end geometry causing premature tire feathering/scalping the v6 is a high compression engine not very good for forced induction leading to very expensive mods.
03-04 cobra like mentioned before because they have come down in price and with few mods can be a highway monster. Also as mentioned a c5 Z06. Best all around platform in my opinion. I just got mine in september and i still couldnt be any happier with my decision. They have a great power ban that just continues to pull even after 100mph. You can easily find them for mid 20s with less then 60k miles on them. Most of them have few mods but are owned by older people that take care of them and spend 80% of there life in garages. The transmission is in the back for the purpose of a 50/50 weight distribution and the car handles amazing even at higher speeds. They have become popular for autoX because of there price and with racing tires are a very competitive car. They ranged from 01-04. 01 is 385 hp and 02-04 is 405.
Porsche's the best bang for the Buck! for 35K -2001-2002 996 Twin Turbo (Best Bang for your 35K) -2002-2005 996 MK2 (40th AE, C4S or regular C2) -2005 997 C2 (Id buy this over 996 MK2)
^ best bang until you need any service done, upgrades insurance ect. These porsches are a dice roll. 996 Prone to rear main seal leak, cracked heads, plastic coolant tank cracking and ignition issue's. Clutch 1500- throw out bearing 1500- pads and rotors 1200 oil change 60-250. An exhaust could cost 4-5K
Off your list I'd opt for a Nissan 370Z with the sport package. There are a couple used Caterhams on the Caterham USA website for around $35K if you want a true sports car.
i have 135k (i have had it since new) on my 04 C4S, Never done RMS/IMS (Dry), No ones ever had issues with "Heads", Coolant Tank fails if you use wrong coolant, Coil's still have my orginals, Orginal Clutch, Orginal Rotors, replaced Pads at 80k ($320 for al 4 corners), oil change every 12k... Daily driven, Sun, Rain, Snow, Slush, my cars seen it all. GTA, Ontario, CANADA has the Highest insurance rates in North America i pay $220/month im 25. FYI 996 TT does not have RMS Issue GT1 Block is Bullet Proof But then again you are correct... you can buy a Used Porsche for Cheap but it wont be Cheap to Maintain looking from the cars you suggest, no wonder you made such a comment....
Errrrr...no If you think a porcshe is a better bang for your buck then a c5 zo6 then you don't know much about cars. And looking at your avatar..im guessin you're a german car nut-swinger.
errrrrrr yes it sure it. atleast it wont crap out on the track because of Oil Starvation due to poor design with the Oil Baffles in the Pan... seen quite a few C5 and C6 Z06 crap out at Mosport International Raceway coz of this... i sure know more about car than you buddy boy.. yay Talk facts buddy not just look posters on the wall... Unsubcribing, dont have time to argue with kids today...
Surely that's not a common problem so don't play it off as one. I'd take an LSx motor over anythiing Porcshe would release in the same price line. The bottom line is if you buy a c5 z06 and put the extra money that you saved from not buying the P car into it it would be far superior and out perform the p car. aka a better bang for your buck.
corvette people are very particular and anal. If this was a common issue i would have seen it on the forums atleast a few times. However even if what you claim is so "common" an LSX motor isnt expensive to replace. If you dont know how to work on cars you can take your CHEVROLET corvette to any CHEVROLET dealer. Porsche atleast in my area has 2 dealers and you will pay a premium not just for regular maintenance but service work as well. On autoX forums people are snatching up c5z06s like crazy it is a true best bang for you buck for the average Joe. With that being said if i was ever to come into money i would most certainly love to have a 911 turbo. Iv always loved the styling but i cant afford that right now. At 23 i can only afford my c5 z06 which is the best bang for my buck.
So maybe the thrifty mans sports car? A lotus Elise? Which is really nice on the bends. Or Im not sure if you could find a ariel atom for 35K, last I checked they were around 50K but if you can pickup one for 35 that might be insane!
HI, None out the group listed. I would add 10k to your budget and get a Ferrari 456GT. My little lil dude aint too little anymore and I cant squeeze him into the back of the 911 anymore. If I had a reliable/reasonable local mechanic I'd pull the trigger on one right now. JD
