Im trying to sell my beater 1999 Jeep Cherokee. Runs like a champ, but the paint has never seen a correction or a drop of wax in the 12 years its been around. The calls have been a bit slow, so this weekend im thinking of spending a couple hours on it putting some elbow grease and spit shine on it.

Can someone recommend a good OTC single step polish i can apply with a PC? Im not looking for a miracle, just something to remove the faded look on the paint.

You might want to try some local automotive paint supply shops that sell meguiars and get some D151.

Autoglym's website list Autozone as a dealer, but both of the Autozones in my area have never heard of it lol.

I drove around to 5 stores today (2 are legit body shop supply stores), and i could not find anything other than Zmol. Bodyshop supply #1 had some 3M stuff, but it was $48/quart and required a wool pad. I passed, quickly....

Bodyshop supply #2 carrys duragloss, so i was thinking "cool i can get 501 at least". Nope. They dont carry it. So then i went to Advanced Auto, Autozone, CarQuest and Napa. I ended up just taking a shot in the dark and picked up Megs Ultimate Compound. Ill first say, i had low hopes. Anything that claims to be the ultimate is automatically under suspicion of being a terrible product from past experiences....

However, i was pleasantly surprised. The little bit that i was able to use the hand applied Megs UC, it worked great. It removed the hazy/oxidized paint and some very light swirls. It however wont be doing anything for those deeper/larger swirls. As a one step polish for a quick job that does not require perfection, i think this stuff is passable. In my case it was a applied to a 1/4 million mile 12 year old jeep that i have for sale. It definitely improved its appearance from the road.

Good to hear dude! Do you have a machine you can try it with also?? Ultimate compound is 105s little brother from my understanding, same with the polish they sell OTC is 205s counterpart.

I do have a PC, but the way things lined up today i didn't have time to hit it with a machine (it would also be my first time ever using one...i didn't want to be rushed). I had someone test driving it at noon so while i was waiting for them i worked on my 05 Grand. Then when they got done, i worked on the 99 Cherokee....then when i got done with that i worked on the 05 Grand some more. All in all i spent 11 hours outside today, 7 of those working on the two Jeeps, and i got a wicked sun burn :)

I didnt know UC was comparible to 105 (which is also not available locally). I finished down very well (in my limited experience), quickly and with little effort. You know those oily stains that rust leaves on paint when the rain wears it down over time? It cleaned that up quickly and removed all the scratches around the area.

Just for future reference when you call those shops, they won't know what D151 is because they plug those numbers into their computer and it won't show up because megs actually adds the size in the number.

Example, a gallon of D151 is really number D1511, the extra 1 being for a gallon. A quart is D15132 I beleive and so on. Or you could ask them for the "Paint Reconditioning Cream".

I ran into the same problem and guy was actually getting mad at me becasue he couldn't fiind it. With a little bit of investigation from the both of us, we figure it out.
