I just bought a bottle of optimum car wax and tried it on my paint what I noticed was there was a lot of hazing and cloudiness in the paint after. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong to cause the product to act like this
A little more information such as , was the car claybar'd, surface polished? how did you apply it? was it thin or thick coats? how long did you let it cure? what did you buff it out with? those answers might lead to a more accurate answer.
I clayed the car about a month or two ago, the car was polished a few months ago, I just got the bottle shook it up sprayed a 16 by 16 area and wiped off right after, after pulling the car out in the sun is when I noticed the haze in the paint. It was applied after I washed the car with maxi suds
I was going to say "Did you shake it up?" But you already stated you did. The only thing I can think of that might be the problem is the paint was too warm for application. Was that the case you think? Also with spray waxes its important that you buff it off just as you would a normal wax. If you leave any on the surface it will cloud up the finish especially in the sun.
Ive had that issue if the paint is not cool, but I always apply my spray waxes se a foam applicator to spread it out as you would with a paste wax, let it set up and then buff it out.
OCW is great, but it's really sensitive to humidity. Try getting an empty bottle of Meg's Quick Detailer (Burgundy Bottle) or a bottle that can spray a really fine mist. It seems that the more atomized OCW is, the less sensitive it is to humidity. I used Werkstat AJT this past weekend and I liked it a lot. Aquawax won't streak on you, but IMO it doesn't offer the same protection as OCW does.
You didn't mention you method of application. OptiSeal can just be wiped on, our Instant Detailer is just spray and wipe, and OCW is spray on and buff till gone. If you just wiped it on or just sprayed and wiped you will probably get some streaks, but if you lightly buff till gone you should have no streaks unless your towel is saturated in which case you should change to a fresh one...or use one to apply and a second to buff. You have to spray, wipe it with around with a microfiber, then wipe the panel again with a new microfiber. If you use the same towel for the whole car you will most definately get streaks because the wax is a liquid and saturates the microfiber.
Heard that you can add water to dilute it a bit more to reduce the hazing..... tried it but i think i lost the slickness and gloss a bit...
You got some bad info, you should not dilute OCW. You can add more water to our Instant Detailer, was that what you were thinking of? Sent from my iPad 2 viaTapatalk
When I used it, I just spray on the surface, spread evenly with an applicator, then removed with a dry towel. I did not see any issues.
I find some spray waxes to be easier to work with then others. Some I can use while drying like Griots or Aquawax, others don't work well with moisture like Pinnacle souveran spray wax. I recently tried Blackfire spray sealant thats some easy stuff to work with.
LOL... i've must wondered around and did not read properly. Yes, i meant OID not OCW... Chris was right, do not dilute OCW!
Never had a problem with OCW great stuff, although I think Prima Hydro is the best spray wax out there.
