Stainless steel license place screws! The crappy kind that most dealers affix your plate with will rust out super quick and create nasty rust stains on the plate.
Yeah link to the Ti screws? I just wanna see what they look like lol. They must be some pretty expensive screws.
Here's what I found: Go Tuning Unlimited $65 PER SCREW..... lmfao, only on a rare exotic or supercar would it be worth it to buy these.
I don't see that being abnormal, I would not put them on a Accord or Camary, but I would put them on my car. I am looking to get a set of TI lug nuts pretty soon... Id rather spend 200.00 on lug nuts then on Wax LOL Fortune Auto Titanium Parts - Fortune Auto USA
I agree.... but that's a 20 piece set of lugs for $200..... alot more metal than 4 screws. If you wanted 4 screws for the two license plates, you would already be over $260 + shipping.... which is insane for 4 screws.
I want a set, the billet aluminum lugs that I have are too soft, I went through two sets in the last year so the titanium will pay for themselves, I wanted to run Rays Formula lugs but I run extended studs and the Rays lugs only look good if you are using the caps. my buddy did the TI dress up fasteners as well in his Evo9, they look sweet. that is for sure
The Fortune site raises all kinds of red flags for me: "High Grade" Titanium is BS, they need to list the specific alloy. If it is merely CP (Commercially Pure) this is a very poor application. Titanium is quite prone to galling especially if it is over torqued against a harder metal. You also need to be sure to use plenty of anti-seize compound. Personally I'd choose good old steel for lug nuts. Titanium has its appropriate applications but I don't see this as one of them. You ought to be able to find stainless hardware for license plate mounting for far less money.
These parts are DD and track proven. TI lugs are used in rally autox drag time attack ect. Most of the cars I know who run them put down well over 450 awhp. Trust me in the evo world if this stuff was junk it would be weeded out quickly and exposed for poor quality. Stainless/ steel equals more rotational weight= slower to excelerate and longer to slow down. Weight is the enemy
Aside from someone trying to shave a few hundredths of a second off lap or quarter mile times Ti or aluminum alloy (lighter yet!) lug nuts are purely cosmetic. The weight*, while unsprung, is close to the rotational axis not out where it matters most. Having your tires shaved probably makes a far more noticeable difference since it affects both grip and weight where it really matters. Most people, however, aren't going to have their street tires shaved because they recognize that street use and racing have different and to some extent conflicting demands/priorities. If you want to put aftermarket "aero" parts that have never seen a wind tunnel on your car, carbon fiber license plate frames or Ti lug nuts please be my guest but don't try to suggest that their function is other than cosmetic. We're talking jewelery here. *Exactly how much weight are we talking about here? How much weight does a Ti lug nut save compared to an interchangeable steel nut?
Agreed shaved tires do work well. Lugs alone will have little impact, it's the overall combo of lighter rim wheel studs and lugs. Ti intercooler pipes and such are def eye candy. It's is a big reason ARC went out of business. I do not have a flashy car it's shaved, no emblems, wing, tint, carbon or Ti. I would not drop 65 per bolt for my tags. Ti lugs and Volk rims and full TI exhaust are a healthy diet however very pricey. I still maintain fortune auto makes top shelf items. Sometimes a hundredth of a sec separates winning from losing
