Hey guys, I have been working on my business card for a couple days now, and I have ran out of ideas. If any of you would like to take a look at it a help me out that would be awesome. This is my first time working on Photoshop so I don't really have anything fancy, its really plain. I need some colour or some more "pop" somewhere.

    Thanks to those that help!

looks good. If you can get a good company to print it where theres a bit of a texture on the CF it would really stand out. I personally think your signuture on the abck could do without the halo/glow or atleast tone it down, maybe a higher res copy of it..

I think youve got a great idea and are on the right track. Its a great concept, possibly refining of the execution would make it perfect.

Here is a link to some biz card ideas. My cousin is a DJ and his card is featured on the site. After seeing the different ideas, you can totally expand on how you want it to look. Even their simple ideas that are executed properly stand out from your everyday one.

Here is the link (his card is the second one..DJ Fred savage, simple, but probably what makes it stand out is the rounded edges, maybe a high quality thick board its printed on) DJ Business Cards: 20 Creative and Funky Examples | Best Business Cards

Thanks for all the comments so far! I added a mirror effect to the back, toned down the outer glow and shadow. I also completely redid the front. I would like the CF in the front so it flows from the back. What do you guys think now? Good or Bad improvements?

My comments are based on the second design including your real name. Please note that these points are in no way critiquing your content, simply it's composure or layout.

-What is the "back" should be the front because it is the side that is more artistic and that tells the client who you are and what you do.
-The contact info goes in "back"
-I would personally ditch the reflection as it looks a little messy.
-Make the fine print at the bottom bigger. It looks okay now, but when it's going to be reduced to 1/4 the size you're seeing it now, it will be hard to read.
-Also, see if you can have the carbon fiber design up top and have your contact info down on the bottom on your back side.
-Lastly, maybe make the "Automotive Detailing" blue like your name on the back to have a complete matching color scheme front and back.

Other than these arrangement points, your design and content are very nice. :)

I agree, but I think that the Automotive Detailer should be left in black to add contrast between the two things.

as a marketing person, i would advise against the facebook unless you are indeed going to update it on the reg. many companies are going to facebook, which is intelligent, but without constant input the page looks unkept and unprofessional. i would just advise to use a .com and a better email address.

I agree with JoeyV that you should swap front with back. But I would make the the CK blue, because that's how it is when you have it spelled out. I also think the strip of carbon fiber looks out of place somehow, no matter where I imagine it to be. If it has to be there, I would probably use it to cover the right 1/3 of the card, with the name and contact info on the left. Then on the back (front in my eyes), bring the logo up and make it a tad bigger, and split the list of services into two rows so you can make them bigger. Oh, and the mirror effect can go too.

That's my 2 cents, hope it helps :)

Are you working on a trial version or did you purchase it? I am thinking of downloading the free trial version but if it doesn't come with everything it may just be a waste.

    Just a few ideas:

I have 2 different sets of cards.

One has my personal contact info including my full name, phone #, and email.

Then another card that only has my first name with last initial and doesn't have my phone number on it. I will give people the card with my number on it if I am talking to them in person. That way I know who it is. If I am in a parking lot and see a nice car that is dirty or has lots of swirls, I will place the card with the email only under the wiper blade because no telling if that person is some looney.

It isn't the most cost effective way to go about business cards, but I feel more comfortable that way.

Also, don't be afraid to to get really creative with the card. You want the person to make sure they know your card from everyone elses.

I tossed around the idea of somehow making a business car out of microfiber. I've seen companies print their logo on a thin dehydrated sponge that you can actuually use. When you get it wet, it soaks water up and becomes like 5 times thicker.

    Just my .02

Thats a good Idea! Hows the turn out rate when you leave cards on random cars? Do you get a lot of clients that way? Thanks for the tips!

Well as of right now I have been using a facebook page dedicated to detailing. I like using it because its just so simple uploading pics of all the recent work I have done and able to build a portfoilo. I am planning on building a site soon.... one day. Thanks again!

Lol I honestly couldn't tell ya. They just came in Wednesday. I have my normal cards that a friend made for me, but just recently I told him to make a separate card without the number. I've just been skeptical about leaving my cell number on random cars. If I had a separate phone used for business, I wouldn't mind as much. You can get a google phone number that when called can redirect the call to your cell phone, but i found it to be finicky

I like the set-up! I'm still just going to stick with my opinion thought, the "Automotive Detailing" should be blue and you have to make the font bigger on the small print at the bottom and with your contact info. Now it looks fine, but hold "ctrl" and scroll down with the wheel on your mouse until you see the screen at 50%, that will give you a more just idea of how small it will be when printed.

I have to say that i get a lot of business that way. I do get business from word of mouth but i almost always 99.9% of the time carry business cards with me no matter where i go be it to run to town to mail something, eat, shop, movies etc . . . . . if i see a decent car i will leave my business card on it. It really is a hit or miss type of thing. I have had people call as soon as they got the card and i have also had people call months down the line as well. Go figure if you hand out 20 cards and 1 person calls back that's a 5% return rate and business cards only cost what maybe 5 cents so you just made a big profit right there. With that type of advertising you really can't expect for every single person to call but the more cards you put out the higher your chances of someone calling are.

    G'luck
