Now on to the mobile water setup. Picked up this 30 gallon barrel that is perfect. Upon testing i was able to wash two cars on a single fill.

Now on to testing it before securing it inside the van.

Just something to watch out for because your water supply isn't pressurized, try and always keep the outlet of your tank above the inlet of your pump and never smaller than 5/8" hose for suction.

Oh and way to go for it!!

    Van looks good.
Good luck with your business. I can tell from the way you talk about it you have the right mentality to perservere.
I agree with everyone else the top logo is my pick.

If you ever run into a problem with your washer pulling water surflo makes great pumps for that sort of thing.

Alright some progress pics. I mounted the pressure washer and water barrel in the van, along with the air compressor and vacuum. Still a lot to do. I want to build a nice shelving system for products, pads, towels exc. I have a nice big order from eshine on the way : )

Thanks amdplus, i should have the logo on the van within a week. I like how big your number is, i bet you get a lot of calls while driving hah

    on to the pictures..

I used 1200lb straps to secure the barrel because it was quick and easy. You would be surprised how sturdy it is. If i didn't have that barrier behind my seat i would probably use metal strapping and bolts. I may still do that just to be safe.

I chose to mount the washer and compressor in the middle for equal weight distribution, with the water tank full i can see the left side of the van riding a little low.

Eventually i want nice retractable cables for the pressure washer and compressor, but this should do for now. The only machine i'm holding off on buying is a generator to be truly mobile. How many of you mobile guys use a generator for powering everything? I am just going to use the customers power for now but a generator is probably going to be a future purchase.

amd, what is that bottle rack that you posted a picture of? where did you get it? sturdy?

Kevin, I'm mobile and really I would be pretty limited in where I'm able to work if I didn't have my generator. Sure you can get away with it most of the time if your just going to houses but I service a lot of my customers at their office. I'd hate to have someone call me and want me to come to their office but not be able to do it b/c they don't have a nearby power source. Plus, I'd hate to advertise myself as mobile but then be limited to where I can perform work.

Another plus is that if I am at a business, I can park closest to the road as possible to increase my visibility to people driving by.

I use it for my vacuum, compressor, steamer, tire shine sprayer, buffer, etc. Dont use a pressure washer, I use ONR.

    UPDATE:

Finally got the logo printed and on the van 10 minutes ago. I think it looks great. I haven't thought of what i want on the back or front of the van yet.

I like that you used "shop" in the title, it makes more of a impact............imo. better then mobile detailing.

Well ya i didn't want people thinking it was just a shuttle van or something. I wanted to emphasize that it is an actual Mobile Detail "Shop" hah

I would hole saw through bed or side of van and put fittings/connections. Electric box , water fitting to my water supply in van. Also a fold down tray on back door for all my cleansers and supplies while working. Anything on the ground is likely to get stepped on,knocked over by a hose or electric. I think about this a lot because it is startup I would like to try. Best of luck to you.

even though this is a old thread the van looks good. It really makes me want to look for a van. I tell you those astro vans sure look great and are the perfect size but people think they are gold around here and ask way to much for the few that are floating around.
