Recently completed job for a friend of a friend........new to him and in need of of some paint correction.
After the usual wash/decon steps I brought the car back into the shop to remove the side moldings which were toast.

As expected after the wax/glaze than was on the finish before the wash, the finish had RIDS/marring and in some places such as the front and rear bumpers there was oxidation.

    Some 50/50 pics......

    Correcting whole bumper.

Still during compound stage with Megs D/303.

This is a big car.........did a bunch of these in the late nineties and forgot how much real estate thier was.

50/50 shots of the "B" pillars.

    Deep marring.

    Corrected.

    More marring examples.

A tricky area to correct, had to feather around the emblem gently.

    Still during compound stage.

Initially I thought the bumper trim was unsaveable.....

Took some time, but the result was worth it.

    Mirror with "The scuffness".

    All better.

    All finished......pre sun pics.

Great work. I've always been a big fan of those cars.

After you removed the door moldings, what did you use to remove that white residue that was holding the moldings in place? Is it some sort of glue?

Very nice work, what a great save I love those Impala's. What are your thoughts on the D300 compound? Did you use the mf pads as well?

The residue from the two sided tape was removed with Tarminator(the wonder solvent)and yes I did use the microfiber pads with the compound, but it also works great with foam pads as well.

I loved those cars as a kid! Tim Allen I think has a bad ass supercharged one that I would love to have. Allen's probably doesn't look as good as this one though!

This gen was built in Arlington, TX before they switched to GMT 900 truck/SUVs. Did you work at Oshawa #1 or #2? I used to make the fenders for the GMT 800 trucks at the GM Parma Plant.
