Thats insane. Like others said it will probably be back, all the mold still hiding under the dash in far back in the vents, the spores spread very quickly! But awesome job man!
Hands down the turnaround of the year. That's the worst interior I've ever seen. Great job, I hope the mold stays away.
Besides the areas you list, mold could also be in the foam in the seats...between the ceiling and the ceiling fabric, covering the inside of all cabin air tubing, etc... A car like that is a major health risk, and should be gutted to be cleaned. At the very least, Id get an ozone generator. This might harm the leather, but by the looks of the interior, the owner wouldnt care. Kudos for tackling this, and doping a great job, but there is a great risk you havent removed half of the mold... I hope the owner doesnt intend to sell this to someone else under the pretenses of being detailed...
Amazing turn around. That is absolutely disgusting but I would warn the owner that no matter what, that interior needs to be gutted. Mold hides and can be in almost every unseen surface and could pose a seriously deadly hazard. I would never take on that job no matter the pay. The only thing I would do is possibly replace the interior but even then, the health risks for you are pretty bad. Kudos for you for having the balls to do this.
Thanks guys. This car was very intimidating initally. I wanted to pull the interior, carpets, pretty much everything, but the owner didn't want me to.
It doesn't happen too often, but without even thinking I said holy sh*t at the before pictures. That is incredible, wow. Great job turning that disaster around, amazing how water can cause that much damage!
Just like what everyone said here. That interior was just terrible. I'm speculating, but I really hope the owner just isn't going to sell the car to someone and the new owner not having a clue what's really underneath everything. That's what it sounds like to me if he basically only wanted to clean what was visible. Once again, I'm only speculating.
Good Lord, that is the nastiest interior I've seen BY FAR. Great job on the detail though, I hope you wore a mask the entire time?
I truly hope not. I don't think so considering I feel he truly does love this car...I will know when I go do his X5....No Mold though :thumb: When I go back I will bring an ozone generator with me and sit it in the car the entire time I detail his other car. I had initally was going touse one, but wanted to get the surfaces cleaned first.
Holy shit is right..... wow. What concerns me the most is that the problem will come back to haunt them if they don't somehow take care of that firewall leak (wtf is that all about anyway). Man, you saved that car! My hat's off to you Sir.
Awesome job. I had a VW Beetle come in the same way. The owner was going to sell it. It had black mold all through it. I advised the owner that it couldn't be done and that it was a health hazard and he couldn't sell this car if he had any kind of conscious. He turned it in to the insurance company and after a 3 month fight between them and VW it was determined VW was at fault for a bad design in the drainage channels for the sun roof. The vehicle literaly would fill up with water in a heavy rain! The car was destroyed because the mold was every where, behind the dash, ventilation system, every where you couldn't see! People die from black mold. Just something to think about if anyone else comes across this! Again, great job..Where did you get your steam cleaner, been looking for one? Keep up the great work!
