Seems like AG has picked up both CarPro and Opti-Coat 2.0....wonder how 2.0 is vs 1.0 (opti-coat) to enable it to be sold to the public....

    Interesting news...

Yes I have read this just a moment ago. Since when are they the exclusive US distributor?

They are just brining in the products then distributing them, compared to Avi having to ship to each seller separately.

So I take it this way:

Was: Avi (CarPro) -> Ship to -> Phil (DD)

Now: Avi (CarPro) ->Ship to -> AG (In Bulk) -> Ship to -> Phil (DD)

I take it that it might increase the cost to the end consumer.

just seen this. phils prices still cheaper with forum discount

i guess OC 2.0 is easier to apply? couse i think that was the problem with that

Actually it should lower the costs for end consumers as you're economies of scaling the big shipment and local shipping is cheaper and the cost of initial duties and shipping is shared as opposed to multiply it by number of retailers.

Yes it should lower shipping as shipping international is expensive and doing large scale bulk will get you a much better rate.

OC 2.0 from some searching is a slower drying formula and thus easier to use. I may have to spring for it.

I use GTechniq C1. Paint coatings are the way of the future, unless you have a show car, where I think a true carnuba wax might be a better option.

hm... this should be interesting. it says it's a permanent coating unlike a wax or sealant. Does this mean it won't come off if you polish it like a wax or sealant would?

They will come off with polish, or other abrasive method. They won't come off with most chemicals, like IPA, etc.

What makes me scratch my head is they say you can clean up areas with Poli-seal on a finishing pad, I would think that it would remove the coating...

Pretty list polish and will not harm it too much, but should re-apply after doing this. Only really for "spot" treatments.

Phil's prices are still way better than AG carpro stuff. Keep it going Phil!

Opti Coat 2.0 takes longer to cure...giving you more time to work it. Opti Coat 1.0 will get a name change to "Opti Guard" and will soon be offering a warranty.

What application problems did you have with the optimum coating? I can't imagine it being any easier to apply than it already is.
